I need to get a new front number plate - an 13"x6.5" import plate. I have found several suppliers however whilst I know that legally you must have the plate suppliers contact details on the bottom edge along with some other EU waffle does anyone know who supplies plates which twitch has the smallest type face on their bottom edge. I am ok about the font size of the actual plate numbers and letters it the other text on the bottom edge I am concerned about as I find it to be a distraction from a private plate.
Thanks Ian for this…a saw a photo of your car somewhere on the net this evening whilst trying to solve my issue.
I have a the import 13" x 6.5" number plate plinth fitted to the bumper and it will leave quite mess if I take it off and anyway quite like the quirkiness of having it. So it is not so much about the plate size but size of the font i.e where “criagsplates” is written on the bottom edge. On their site the plate generator makes it this font look huge…
Perhaps I will contact them directly and find out the font size used on their plate as your’s is quite subtle.

Just had mine done by GelPlates, think the mandatory makers and BS mark are pretty much standard size. Just wish I could find a rear plate that fits the void properly;
For the rear - I hated the vast expanse of yellow plastic plate - so hit upon the solution of masking the plate up, and prepping and painting it body colour/lacquer. Luckily I could use the alignment of the inner edges of the lower retaining tabs, so successfully disguised those as well. This rear plate option passed an Mot - at a very stringent garage - last week. (The matching, massive, front plate was also temporarily affixed in place as well, of course).
Fancy Plates based in N.Ireland are another option (http://www.fancyplates.com). They can produce pretty much anything you want by way of font type, arrangement etc and according to their website will cut down standard plates for Japanese imports. They are not particularly cheap but provide a great service by return of post.
