Bourne Road Mazda’s listing - seems to be different to yours? Listing says cloth seats and things you don’t seem to have.

Possible previous owner modifications? Or blown fuses. wriring problems, changes etc.?
My 2002 reg (built 2001) listed heated side mirrors, as did other 2002 cars, but they weren’t fitted till around 2003/2004 IIRC.

Just a quick thought - has it got built in headlights or pop-ups? And is it an MX5 or a Eunos?
We used to own a Mk2 California.
The California was a base model and didn’t come with electric windows (although I converted ours to electric) electric mirrors or central locking.
The original cars came with cloth seats, it could be that somebody has modified them in the past, maybe a dealer fit ?
It is a mk 2 and no pop up headlights,
i have googled images of california and have seen the same seats on there.

When you see cars with the same seat covers, what you are seeing is a fairly popular modification at the time. No MX5 ever left the factory with black and yellow seats.
Mk2 California brochure:

As stated, it was basically a base model 1.6i, with the addition of alloy wheels and floor mats.

If you complete a form V888 and send that to the DVLA with a cheque for £5 and ask for whatever details they hold on your vehicle and say it is to trace the history of your vehicle they will furnish you with all the details they hold on your car.
You may then have a line of enquiry with the previous owners.
Something to keep you occupied until the summer arrives.
