Just got my insurance documents through today and noticed that they have included 4 years NCB which I am pretty miffed about because that is simply wrong!
When talking to them about the policy I discussed at length their ‘mirroring’ of NCB which I have on another car and they explained how they could offer me a discounted rate accordingly but that the new policy will start at zero NCB. Their rate was very reasonable so I took them up of the offer.
I have 7 years NCB on my other car so I have no idea where the 4 years figure has come from. It maybe just be an honest mistake, but I’m quite annoyed because it means that policy is invalid, a new policy will probably cost me much more and I’ll have to argue the toss on their cancellation fees should it come to it.
Not had a chance to talk to them as they were shut when I got in, but good job I had a thorough read through and it may be worth others cheking their policies.
Did the same this year insuring my MX5 without a seperate contriutory NCB. I was offered a 4 year introductory NCB which partially ‘mirrored’ the 9 plus years on my standard ongoing cars policy.
I could not find any insurer that would absolutely replicate my ‘earned’ NCB but, like yourself, found the policy price offered to be very competitive and therefore agreeable. My MX5 insurer is Competition Car Insurance.
Just to confirm, my standard car’s policy with 9 plus years NCB remains unaffected by the 4 years introductory NCB applied to the MX5 policy…
I gave them a call this morning to confirm that the 4 years stated was how they effectively ‘mirrored’ the NCB from my other policy and that it doesn’t constitute a false statement on the policy.
I was just worried if I had to make a claim they would look at the policy and say ‘you put down that you have 4 years no claims, but you actually don’t, so we’re not going to cover you!’
