Integrated TomTom Sat Nav - 2012 Venture Edition

Hello again!

I drove my car for the first time in the dark last night and the radio/sat nav screen is really bright.  Is there a way of turning down the brightness?  I know you can probably set the sat nav to night settings but can you do the same with the (mostly white) radio/cd screen?

Thanks!

Not sure about the radio screen but the sat-nav can be day, night and auto, it might do everything but cannot remember.

On my Sport Graphite if you set the Sat Nav to night view then the Radio display etc will dim down…Yours will be the same…There is know auto setting you can only do manually unlike most TomToms.

On page 51 of the NVA-SD8110 manual it tells you how to link the screen mode to the headlights or the darkness sensor, you had me thinking for a moment.

Right. I have dug out the manual and will go out and have a fiddle when I get home. Thanks.

Well I’ve changed the settings so that the sensor will tell if it is dark enough to change the maps when it gets dark and we will see what happens the next time I drive after dark.
I also took the opportunity to change the voice to a bloke. My old Garmin only had one voice (it was a cheapie).

I have ‘computer girlie’ reading out street names but there are times we have to stop driving in case the laughter causes an accident.

Today I went to “Milton Kanes” which only warrants a snigger. She does a good job really and it breaks up the tedium in traffic.

I am not a racist, don’t sensor my sni-gger!

I didn’t scroll past the UK, Irish and US voices. I will have to see if I can find the computer generated voices.

It’s probably not as good as Garmin’s street names but the addition makes it better than I have had with any previous TomTom.
