Interesting discovery re ECU remap

Was with a mate having his Jag done and asked about options for my 2023 MY ND4 2.0, really just out of curiosity.

They said the car, like many more recent ones, have encrypted maps, so they can’t offer remaps for those. I did’t know that was a thing. This is not an add-on box they offer for other cars, it’s re-flashing the existing ECU…

Outcome for the Jag (V6 diesel) was a quite impressive change to an already quick car :upside_down_face:

Hi John, You’re going to hardly notice a difference with a stock car. Also there isn’t actually an nd4 ,the latest is the nd3. I think many companies aren’t actually tuning with the nd3 yet. probably better off with a later model nd2 for that

Sorry, yes, ND4. Not interested in increasing performance anyway. Was more curiousity and an unexpected reply from them that I thought I’d share.

I think the nd2 has a great amount of power anyway. A few people who tune them even with a manifold etc say there really isn’t that much difference.

This was mentioned in a thread here the other day in relation to 2024- models of the ND3.

:crossed_fingers: that Jag V6 engine doesn’t drop a crank / bearings under the extra pressure. That engine is prone to fairly expensive failures (more so in the Landrover to be fair).

The Jag’s owner did quite a bit of research. Convinced the engine and transmission more than capable of handling the ‘stage 1’ tune. Time will tell…

Are you saying the nd2 is prone to crank failure ?

Does anyone know if there is a company actively working to try and crack the newer ECU?
