Since getting my NC last September I’ve slowly been refreshing it inside and out and just about have it where I want it, apart from one thing, the interior carpet…
As with most, if not all NCs, the carpet has worn very thin where your heel rests for using the clutch, which is just off where the interior mat covers…typical…!
It hasn’t worn enough to make a hole, but pretty much all the pile has gone with just the backing left…
I think a full replacement interior carpet from mx5parts is £300 and ones I’ve seen online from breakers are no better…
Has anyone got a cheap diy fix for this that they have used to good effect…?
I would steal a bit of carpet from somewhere else (under a seat) and patch it, or forget about hiding it and make a scuff plate out of aluminium or something. Not sure I’d like to drill the floor for pop rivets (assuming it’s metal underneath) but you could use contact adhesive.
Frustratingly, no one caters for the Mk3 in regards to quality replacement carpet. I’ve emailed a few well known companies and ultimately I’d be paying for a one off item which makes it just too expensive.
Can’t help with replacement carpets but I got a good set of mats from these guys.
They fit very well and the heel guard goes right across the mat to where you need it.
