Ah, Project money pit!! Most of us NB owners go through it to a greater or lesser extent. I’d only part with mine if it completely dissolved into the orange stuff ![]()
Enjoy your little beauty.
Welcome along, nice colour NB.
Welcome along to empty pockets but big smiles ![]()
I used to have a Alfa 156 but that fell apart and getting the alfa crushed led to me getting my nb
After a search in the forums i found out that my nb used to be a members car so thats cool atleast
Welcome aboard
Plenty of good roads in North Lincolnshire and over into the Wolds. Across the bridge and you’re into the Yorkshire Wolds too.
Enjoy your -5 and please feel free to share your adventures with us all.
Cheers,
Guy
Welcome from Aberdeenshire ![]()
Only time its been over the bridge in my ownership was on a flatbed from Hull to Scunthorpe
Welcome SDavey2002
From NB 2005 owner in Staffs [owned since 2007 …..digi pic of how she looked in 2007 when she was 18 months old…….those were the days !]
Here on the Forum we don’t say ‘rustbox’ but ‘renovate and restore…..work in progress’ ……as Bullit is……..waiting in queue for new rear wheel arches
I do like that you choose an NB after your Alfa 156 fell apart ![]()
Meanwhile……enjoy your new purchase………….I’m a bit biased but I think the NB is the most traditional looking one of the MX-5s
I have a set of enkeis that are the same that you have in the picture sat in a shed awaiting tyres but rust wise my nb is far better than the 156 (I also edited my post and removed the rustbox part)
I think Alfa Romeo 156s are a future classic. I wouldn’t mind having one as a high days and holidays car.
Possibly the GTV too. I had two of those at separate times in the past.
The MX-5 is likely to offer better driving dynamics and you can’t drop the top in a 156.
I look forward to seeing where your adventure takes you.
Thanks for this ![]()
If it helps…..many NC’s and even some ND’s have corrosion issues and yours from the pic looks halfway decent for it’s age …….onwards and upwards……helps if you can DIY ?
Kindest
I have a friend that is also a fellow member that is going to help with rust work but the wings and arches need sorting outside rust wise and the whole underside is rather crusty
Hi again
Empathy re ‘works in progress’ ![]()
Think I might be a bit ahead of you re ‘jobs’ even though Bullit is younger (?)
This is because…….my bad……..she got neglected……..after 3 years in Whitby in sight of North Sea she spent 18 months on short grass [was living in town centre and cheap parking options limited]
Benefit of hindsight etc
So it was a shock when she suddenly failed her MOT and I was shown some serious undercarriage holes
. Three months waiting in a queue for welding and undersealing [and challenge to keep her ‘baby’ battery charged in a garage without power
]
And her cills have been done as well since then
At least this time waiting in queue for new rear wheel arches she’s passed her MOT - no advisories so at least I can drive her ![]()
So good to have a friend who is a fellow member your end……..makes a lot of difference. It was my non-specialist mechanic who said ‘Sorry I can’t pass her’ who recommended the MX-5 Owners Club in 2018/19
However did I cope without the knowledge and guidance and support afforded by this Forum ![]()
Well….clearly I didn’t…….have had to bring Bullit back from the brink ![]()
Wishing you and your NB a Happy New Year [and time and money and patience in 2026
]
Welcome to the forum.
Nice! Mine’s an NB Arctic in Razor Blue too. V happy with it. Ultra low miles, zero rust, treated, lots of smiles.
