iPhone Holder Suggestions

Hi all, I am a new MX5 owner. A 2017 2.0ND. It’s my weekend car. Loving it so far. Just installed the Apple car play unit. Looking for a suitable phone holder for my iPhone. Close to the usb plug. Any suggestions?
Are the long stalk type that fit into the passenger cup holder area any good?

You could use a brodit pro clip fitted to the dash - then whatever phone holder you want to attach to it.

I personally don’t like phone holders getting in the way of vents etc. I either leave the phone at home or it stays in my pocket and connects via Bluetooth.
If it needs charging I plug it in and it fits in the space near the USB ports.

If you’re referring to an ND then it flies out of there if you’re having a spirited drive…

I used to use one of these: Phone Holder, MX5 Mk4 RHD – MX5 Parts

You need to separate the dash trim a bit to install it and I found I had to keep tightening the screws to stop it rattling. But it’s a decent enough solution. Since getting CarPlay setup I just run the cable to the central cubby behind the handbrake. It won’t quite close properly but it doesn’t bother me. I might still have the phone holder - if you’re local to me (Stafford) I could dig it out.

Spirited drive = phone nowhere to be seen. I hate the damn things and now I’m retired, I don’t need to take them everywhere.
When I was at work in a car with a decent glove box or arm rest, it was tucked away in there.

I have a ND3 but think the vents are the same, and currently I’m using this from Amazon. Comes in red and cost around £25: https://forum.mx5oc.co.uk/t/new-to-mx-5-questions/145307/13?u=icehelm

I have one of these. Work well, easy to fit and doesn’t vibrate. At £12 a bit of a bargain!

I’ve run a USB cable from the socket to the armrest/central cubby hole, under the panels by the gearstick. On log journeys my phone lives in there so it doesn’t drain the battery when using a satnav app. For shorter journeys, my android auto plugs into the cable and I use Bluetooth for a connection.

Although phones are getting bigger and my Samsung S22 only just fits in at an angle.
