IPOD Nano Connection to Tom Tom Navigation

Hi All,

I have just bought a gorgeous MX5 3.5, with the Tom Tom SatNav included (model is NVA-SD8110).

The car came with an IPOD connection kit already installed in the glovebox.

I have connected my IPOD nano to the kit in the glovebox and all the songs show up on the nav screen, even all the iTunes artwork is there along with all the albums etc.

However, there is no sound at all, and I cannot work out why. I have connected the red, yellow and white audio leads, and USB connection but no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong, please?

I am just assuming it may not be compatible with the IPOD nano (7th generation), but if that were the case, surely it would not display all the songs, albums and artwork?

Any advice would be most welcome

Thanks

Marsh

I think you need a specific iPod interface lead, is that what you’ve got? I think it’s explained in the Owners Manual.

Edit… Just re read your post and it seems that you have got the correct interface lead.

Edit 2… Thinking out loud now, have you checked for a setting on the unit that give you the option of turning the AV input on and off? I recall having to do that to a Mazda unit in the past but can’t remember which unit it was. It may have been on of the Pioneer ones.

Thanks for your help Robbie. I have now resolved the issue. For an iPod nano you need to connect a stereo jack lead from the nanos headphone output to the twin rca inputs on the mx5. This gives you the sound, and then connect the interface lead on the nano to the USB lead on the mx5, which gives you the iTunes media and track list etc.
