Is it a standard brace or harness bar?

I’ve just put a deposit on my new 5. it has a proper roll bar, although i have not identified its manufacturer yet. i’ll do this when i collect the car on wednesday.

it also has a brace bar between the seatbelt tops. i have never seen a standard bar that comes on a 1.8, but this one seems really chunky! can someone tell me the thickness or circumfrance of the standard bar pease? if it is a proper harness bar, i’m even happier with my purchase, as my new 1.6 mx5 comes with roll bar, harness bar, front strut brace, rear subframe brace, and brand new rear arches fitted within the last 12 months, all for £600!!!

If its angular and covered in a rubbery, spongy plastic (not the best description) then it sounds like the OE one and no use as a harness bar (having chopped through mine for a look see its profile isn’t strong enough to give fore/aft strength.

If its tubular then it’s almost definately after-market and therefore probably designed for purpose, especially if it has mounting points for eyes to be screwed in.

A photo would help mate.
