I‘ve been thinking about ways to add apple car play via 3rd party dongles… but the methods aren’t elegant (to say the least…)
Is it possible to remove the rounded head unit that sits over the dashboard and replace with something that supports Apple Car play? Anyone done this or have recommendations?
Would i lose some vital service indications etc?
I’d need to be able to replace the head unit eventually (it’s a lease car) without leaving damage behind.
I’ve had mine done by Mazda dealer Apple Car Play Android Auto interface fitted …
You get two new USB Sockets one dedicated to your phone.
This retains all the existing Mazda interface and adds the above also.
Another benefit is that the new module makes accessing the SD card slot easier too as the cover is redesigned slightly
Re the last 2 posts---------the OP has the base model which does not have the large centre display that all the other models have and as such has severely limited options.
It is in the manual that came with your car as well. There are a number of items ‘missing’ from the spec sheet all of which can be seen by doing a comparison on the Mazda site here. https://www.mazda.co.uk/configurator/
