Hi all, is it just me or does anyone else have neighbours that can’t park?
My MX5 is parked in the road and it seems that my neighbours like to park their cars by touch as my back bumper has been hit for the second time! I appreciate that MX5s are fairly low so difficult to see through the back of your average car but I’m beginning to get a bit fed up with having to pay for repairs when it’s not my fault. Do other members get this problem or am I just unlucky?
Rant over and I’m off to lie down in a dark room!
Mike
Argh! Im so glad someone else has this (1st world) issue too.
Most of my neighbours are absolute cretins when it comes to spacial awareness & parking. I have 1 who thinks it’s appropriate to use their tow ball as a parking sensor!
I’m small, grey and inconspicuous. Consequently I am unexpected. It is unreasonable to expect the rest of the nation to anticipate you suddenly turning up. They expect something much bigger.
You need to be realistic, do not expect everyone to guess you turning up. You are tiny and close enough, below there sight line…
I get something similar, but they haven’t got anywhere to park off-road. They strip the gardens out for parking space but still haven’t got enough room for the many cars. So many cars parked in the cul-de-sac it would be too risky to leave mine on the road, I thankfully don’t have to. It’s also a lottery for some when you see these delivery vans trying to turn around, there has been a few incidents over the years.
My neighbour as four cars . They park them in the road most times . But they do have a drive that they can get two cars on . They seem to think the road belongs to them,
Of late Dad has needed 24 hour care from carers and consequently a stream of carers have been visiting in all manor of transport, the parking skills shown on the cul de sac have been enough to make one weep, spatial awareness seems to be the main issue that and not having any idea how to use the steering wheel when reversing. Mostly I bite my tongue. At some point I expect at least one of the neighbours to come round and say something fortunately only the cul de sac guests need to use on street parking.
Yes, there’s shed loads seeing one of my neighbours. Parking everywhere, but often not by the neighbour’s actually address. I can never figure out that if you’re going to visit someone, why wouldn’t you park outside their house (which got no car there) and not somewhere else. ‘You don’t own the road’ comes the roar. True, so long as they got an MOT and tax of course. To date I don’t think I’ve seen one of the ‘carers’ not glued to their phone. Pull up, puff on the vape, check the phone for 10 mins, get out, walk to the neighbours- on the phone of course. Leave, on the phone of course and do the reverse. lol to think I clapped for ‘carers’ at 8pm on Tursdays once upon a time
Crikey I seem to have started something It’s good to vent.
The first time I got hit I’m fairly certain I knew which car it was but of course proving it would be impossible but there are so many cars that come and go in my road that it would be impossible to find out which one hit it the second time. Luckily this time its not so bad but it has put a 12" long crack in the paint which is really going to annoy me.
You’ve just explained how it was in our cul-de-sac. Carers visiting 3 houses down on the opposite side of the road, parking for 2 cars outside theirs but no they park blocking my driveway. I questioned one as I was out washing the car one day, why have you parked there but visiting over the road, plenty of room there. Sorry was the reply, I didn’t think there was a house there, thinking to myself keep calm. I explained to them, this is a dropped kerb leading to a driveway which in turn goes to my house, that big brick thing there with a roof.
I eventually put a a sign at the bottom of the garden, No parking, please keep this driveway clear. It works mostly except for those that can’t read, I think, or they are just ignorant.
My missus caught someone actually parked on the drive one day, one lash of her tongue and they soon shifted the car. They parked outside the house they were visiting then😮
They even park on driveways where the house is up for sale and empty. I often wonder what happens when I go on holiday, I’ve got room for at least 4 cars on my driveway🤔
I get your frustration completely! Though for me the problem is at work, small parking spaces, small lanes between the rows and the building makes for a very hard parking conditions for your average driver in an average car.
