I’m on the “8” door speakers for mk2.5?" thread and get the impression it is this just a two way conversation, of which im not invited and should
just fuck off ?
Is this normal for this forum. ?
I go on a lot of DB across the net for various diffrent topics,
mucic, football, motoycles etc but have to say this appaers to be the
least friendly.
Would appreiate comments for the longer established members.
I’ve only just glanced at the thread, so can’t really comment - but my advice would be to start a new thread with your questions, rather than tapping on to another.
This is generally a very friendly forum - by far the friendliest of the mainstream mx5 forums in my opinion - which is why I’m here, not elsewhere. [:)]
I wouldn’t say “clique” but if two people are rapidly firing questions and answers back and forth, It’s easy for other questions to get lost in the crossfire.
It’s a bit like two blokes in the pub exchanging comments, extremely difficult to butt in. As Ramsay says, post another thread. I’ve been here a long time and don’t find the forum at all cliquey—
It would also make it easier for people to check what you are looking at if you posted up the link properly. Personally I can’t be bothered to copy a link to ebay and post it into another tab on the browser, rather than just click on what you want people to see. This may have contributed to getting no answer
I’ve not been a member long (of the club or the forum) but I’ve found everyone to be very friendly and EXTREMELY helpful. Maybe no one has an answer for you …
I like to think that we
as a friendly lot. You have had several answers to this question, or
maybe we are just rallying around to defend our forum. I think that
everyone who has responded so far is a club member. Are there any
other newish people, or non club members who could give there
opinion.
Anyway I have had a
look at the thread that you mention. Your first question on that
thread is quite specific and it is quite possible that known one
could answer it.
Also the point about
click-able links that Richardn makes is a good one. There is a button
on the post editor to help make links click-able. If you don’t use it
(it only takes a couple of clicks) you are making everyone else do a
bit more to see your link.
As you’ll see i’ve not been here long and i am not a club member. I also belong to another mx5 forum. Both have very much to give. I wander away from the other one due to the actual physical forum which is undergoing a little upheaval but what keeps me there are the people. Generally, everyone i have encountered on either forum have been so very welcoming and knowledgeable. And those who don’t know (me being a fine example) tend to say how-do even if we don’t have a tech or mechanical answer. Stick with it, mate. I find it can take a while to find ones comfort zone on a forum new to you even when it’s for the same thing. Sometimes it’s just timing… weektime rather than weekend.
I wouldn’t say it’s a “clique”. However, it dosn’t seem that lively compared to other car fora I go on. Given the number of 5 owners I would of thought that it would attrack many more posters than it does.
Perhape the club could make a bit more of it than it does in the mag.
I often look at threads posing a question where the replies are along the lines of “no idea what the answer is but i will post anyway to say hi” and think why did you bother typing that in, it is of no benefit to the OP.
I suppose if everybody thought that the forum would come across as a very unfriendly place. I am a grumpy old git though !
