Is there any way to tell visually if an NC has the Sports Suspension option with Bilstein dampers and LSD?

I have seen Autotrader adverts that specify “Sports suspension - Bilstein damper” and also LSD, and others that just say “Sports suspension” (with no mention of LSD) - is it the same thing? Was the only option on NCs Bilsteins + LSD or was there another different sports suspension option? Is it only those with sports suspension that have 17" wheels? Is there any way to tell visually if it has Bilsteins and the LSD? I am more interested in the LSD than anything else. Thanks

All 2 ltr manual MK3’s have the LSD

Bilstein shocks are easy to spot - they are yellow ( standard shocks are black )

Thanks, it’s the powershift auto I am looking at, it seems that “sports suspension - Bilstein dampers + LSD” was an option as some don’t have that. The one I am looking at just says "sports suspension " with nothing else so wondering if it has the LSD or not. If it has the yellow Bilstein shocks does that mean it must have the LSD? Were they always together as an option?

You can put a picture up of said car, we’ll soon tell you if it’s a sport model, 2ltr option pack etc etc. Many car dealers use the wording sport or sports suspension just as an up sell in the description, well it is a sports car.:thinking: An option, could have had a suspension change by a previous owner, so sports suspension description would cover that.

Thanks, it’s this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408072626351?sort=most-recent&advertising-location=at_cars&make=Mazda&model=MX-5&page=1&postcode=po368qg&transmission=Automatic&fromsra

According to Roadster blog, link below, the Power shift soft top and coupe doesn’t have an LSD or Bilstein suspension. I’m no expert but guessing the auto box and LSD doesn’t mix.

The standard version didn’t have LSD it was an option, I have seen plenty of powershifts that have it. As far as I can work out, the sports suspension option on these cars had Bilsteins & LSD, so presumably if the shocks are yellow then it also has the LSD. The dealer says the shocks on this car aren’t, so it doesn’t actually have sports suspension at all.

In the ND, according to all the brochures I have, the auto box always deletes LSD, Bilsteins and strut brace.

It seems logical that this was carried forward from the NC.
:heart:

There doesn’t seem to have been an auto option at all in the standard ND, other than the RF with hardtop from 2017 onwards. In the NC LSD/Bilstein was an extra option on the powershift, plenty of cars have it just not standard.

Can you show us one?

Lots of them https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406281220043

From the 2009 UK sales brochure.

Solid spot = Standard
Hollow spot = Optional
Dash = Not applicable

I think that the internet is wrong.
