Is Vin Rouge, the JDM colour and Merlot the same?

 Something in the back of my mind tells me that they are different paint codes but I am not sure and a quick search on here could confirm or indeed deny my thoughts.

Is the MK2 Vin Rouge the same as VR Ltd Vin Rouge, Google search found this 

 The names for some colors vary from country to country, though paint codes are the same. These are:
Merlot = Vin Rouge, Paint code A7 / A1Q

But this bit says Vin Red for VR Comb A
