JASS number plate bracket - how to attach plate?

I cracked the front number plate plinth on my Mk1 (stupid).

I have always thought the car would look better without the plinth anyway.

Quite fancy these lower mounting brackets from JASS http://www.autolinkmx5.com/number-plate-mounting-brackets-lower-ss-mazda-mx-5-mk1-jass-performance-7836-p.asp

They are the two brackets which attach to existing bolts under the lower lip of the car. IF anyone has these, how did you attach the number plate? Double sided tape would not have enough surface area to grip securely.

I guess some short bolts with shakeproof washers are in order, as I don;t want to have sharp points sticking out the back which might scratch the lower lip of the car. Thanks.

If you have a Eunos Import you can legally obtain a smaller front number plate, I went to craigsplates.com the front is 410mm x 90mm and UK legal size and font on an import.

It is held on with two brackets and the double sided number plate tape.

Ian, thankyou for the reply.  That is the look I would like.

My car is a Mazda, UK registered. In fact it was first registered in West Germany, to an RAF officer!

I have ordered a plastic number plate surround from Amazon, in addition to the Jass brackets.

I will see what that looks like.
