I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Seat lowering rails
Hi everyone
Thanks for taking time to review. Two simple questions, about to order the Jass lowering rails (1.9"). I’ve spoken to Paul Roddison about fitting them, and across the forum seem to be a good product.
My wife will drive the car, but is 5’5 vs. my 6’2. The rails retain the forward adjustment and the reclining of backrest however I wanted to get opinion if the lowered seat would be comfortable for her, and not incline the front of seat too much and restrict leg movement on pedals?
Secondly, the jass site says no mods are needed, but the posts on the forum suggest angle grind and persuasion - is there an updated one which are easier to install requiring simple tools. I want to ensure this mod is fully reversible.
Hello Lippy and congratulation for the purchase! The 48mm lowering rails are the way to go. Since you need to share with your wife, I would recommend to find the sweet spot with the fine drop adjustment shims (if you havent ordered yet). ,
Thank you. Ordered and delivered already, great service, installation next week but installer is maintaining some filing needs to happen even on the standard drop. Can you advise further, my expectations are simple fit and is reversible?
The 48mm are reversible and literally require to remove the OEM rails and screw the adapter rails in their place. You might need to set the correct height to match the seat between you and your wife as the 48mm drop would be too much for her. The height adjustment rack needs to be detached in your case, as it lowers the front additionally, which is essential for smaller drivers as of the rake (which is helpful for taller drivers).
The article included in the product description gives further details if needed:
Delighted with the change over of seat rails to the standard 48mm product. I’m sat much lower. Might need to look at flat bottom steering wheel to give me a little more thigh space though… Tinkering never stops
Great service from Paul at Roddisons as well who fitted and changed diff and gearbox oils at same time
I got my wife a booster seat when I fitted the lowering rails. She rarely if ever drives the car, so thought that was fair enough. Also useful for short mechanics. Found one on Amazon the same colour as the seats and narrow enough to sit between the bolsters.
Can I please have a recommendation for a booster seat? Not a joke, my wife is driving (rarely but she does) with a cushion at the moment:).
Great to hear it worked well, Lippy and Paul was confident installing them. I will contact them, to list them on my site as trusted garage for the job.
Thank you! Seeing now I am thinking it might be an idea to make a ND seat dedicated booster cushion (for this price ).
I am grateful for these topics, as they are giving me feedback and different perspectives, which I am not having. Today I (with my nearly 2 meters height) was taking a video of how to optimize the OEM mirror for better view (off the front sight) while missing other aspects of the lowering.
Good idea. Ideally I’d say it should give a bit more of a boost than those available. Nice if they were in pleather too, so they can sit in the boot when not in use without getting watermarked from condensation.
