Joint gaiter/dust cover replacement

My girlfriends Eunos got through the MOT with two split track rod end dust covers and a split front upper ball joint cover.  I guess the MOTer felt sorry for us as all four shocks had to be replaced and both sills needed welding.

I’m in the mood to do this job although it should have been done when I replaced the suspension.  I reckon these will do both track rod end covers and upper front ball joints…

Anyone fitted these before?

Not sure on the track rod end size but I have some Genuine Mazda top swivel boots here waiting to fit and they measure about 28 to 30mm for the large hole and 13mm for the small hole and 25mm high, so looks like these you have found may do.

Just for info the lower swivel boots measure large hole 38mm, small hole 17mm and height 28mm approximately.

If you have the suspension appart to change shocks then fitting these at the same time should be fairly easy.

On the Mk1 the boots have a metal star type washer in them.

I also got hold of a set of these they don’t stay on.

Get the bits from Autolink or MX5 they are not cheap for what they are but they are right, they are similar to some of the honda boots but I could not source them.

Mazda Mender has a site on how to fit them, I found it a godsend. but I used 32 or 36mm sockets to fit dust boots.

I got a mixed bag of Boot’s from my local motor factors & they fitted ok & I have used them on two mx-5’s now
