Took the car for a short spin round the block. Couldn’t recreate the juddering but while near side front disc was warm to touch the offside front was scorching. Added the infrared thermometer to shopping list.

I chased a judder on mine for a few years. Initially I thought it was the slider pins. Maybe it was, as the judder went away after I changed them.
However, I only do about 500-1000 miles per year in mine, so it maybe too this sort of time for me to figure it was the offside front calliper seized, or heading that way.
I replaced both front callipers, and so far so good.

Thanks for the message. I’ve had a few responses from the knowledgeable folk on the forum and while no-one mentioned the pins, everyone said it was calipers. I’ve got the car booked in for January.

The slider pins have a rubber bush type thing, which degrades over time. It swells making the pins tight.
I took the rubber sleeve off mine temporarily, took it for a run, the judder had gone.
I replaced the pins, still no judder.
But about a year later, the judder came back, and on that occasion, I found the calliper seized.
It wasn’t seized when I did the pins, but I’m not ruling out that it could have been sticking slightly at that point, and only got worse over time.
Slider pins replacement was only a temporary fix to mine as well. The front calipers jam a little due to corrosion heating up and transfering heat to other attached parts. Then the rubber brake parts will deteriorate quickly and the fault appears again. The only solution was to replace both front calipers.
Lack of regular use will always result in sticking calipers.
Unfortunately that’s not the case here…I’ve had to put a few miles on commuting up and down from London. For a car that’s not really supposed to be a mile muncher it isn’t too bad ![]()
