Just bought a supercharged NA

Hi guys,

After owning and driving lots of cars I’ve realised I like small engaging cars. I adored my Caterham but I never used it because it was too much of a faff to take the roof on and off and get in and out.

This MX5 really blends usability with raw engagement. I also have an Alpine A110 which is an absolutely amazing car, but I’ll now be selling as I just don’t see why I’d choose to drive it over the MX5.

The car seems to be losing a lot of coolant, but with no signs of drips underneath. Oil looks fine. Just hoping it’s nothing serious. I’ll book it in to the garage next week.

Welcome - that looks brilliant and a great colour :purple_heart:

Wishing you many happy miles ahead :checkered_flag:

That quite a looker! Well photographed too.

Lovely looking car that. What SC are you running
I’ve got a SC jltd.
Do you know the wheels sizes, specs on yours
Cheers

Thanks, yes it’s a Jackson Racing M45 Supercharger which was recently rebuilt by JB Performance.

The wheels are Work Equips 03 (15x8 ET10)

Very nice and welcome.

Nice wheels.
Mines a Jackson too
Good to know they can still be worked on

Nice. Mine is putting out around 220bhp. It’s not crazy numbers but it’s more than enough for me to enjoy the car for what I use it for. The only reason I went for a supercharged one was I thought the extra power on the motorway would make it an easier cruise.

It looks like I can’t create threads yet.

I’d like to get my geometry sorted. Does anyone know anywhere around Cambridge that specialise in MX5 geometry?

Just the same as you did before?

This is in the Welcome area where I can create new threads. Can’t in the Technical Area

Choose a sub-area under Technical. Then try again :+1:

Your original query has got lost because the car is so drop dead gorgeous and supercharged😀
Losing coolant with nothing on the floor and the engine oil looking okay is indeed a bit of a worry.

I took it for a run today and ran absolutely fine and temperature was stable. No white smoke at all.

Will check the levels again tomorrow when the engine is cold.

That looks promising👍

What a fantastic car, the colour is lush, the spec list just wow! Bet that’s great fun to drive.

Can see why you’d take it out for a fun drive over the A110 although they are superb cars too.

Welcome.

I was sceptical about the 220bhp, as most M45 superchargers top out at 180. Then I read your spec list. Someone has really gone to town on that. Lovely.
