I have just won faux leather seat covers on e-bay for £117, just got to find out how to strip the seats down and fit them, a video of installation is included but I suspect a lot of swearing is going to happen.
Just take a deep breath, make a cup of coffee and apparently it will take a couple of hours! Good luck, I am sure your seats will look fantastic when you have finished.
Theres a good right up here [Y]
Nice win , lets see them then !!!
Cut the hog rings (watch your hands they are sharp) and replace with cable ties
I hope this has worked, I get the covers tomorrow and this is the photo of them, will post some more when i’ve fitted them.
Do as Fergy says and take your time, I had to remove the base cover on my seat and refit it and it really is not hard.
Got the seat covers last Saturday, removed the passenger seat and stripped it down. Took it nice and steady and got the new cover fitted in 4 hours, did the drivers seat on Sunday and it took 2 hours in all as I knew what I was doing now. Both back in the car and they look superb, I will try and get some photos this weekend, they are excellent quality and the company who made them, The Car Trimmers, were really helpful. They had a mk1 in that belonged to the owners son and it was fantastic, resprayed to a high standard lovely red leather seats, dashboard and door cards, the engine had a greddy turbo and apparently it is very fast.
Just in case anyone else is contemplating changing covers:-
Cut the hogrings in two places - much easier to remove
Cover foam with cling film - covers slip on easily
Use plastic cable ties, not hogrings

I won the same auction the following week, looking forward to seeing your photo’s!!!
A couple of photos of the seats,
Looking great!
Very inviting and comfortable!
I have heard the process is hard and sore on the fingers… any truth in that?
It wasn’t really hard, I took plenty of photos as I was stripping them for reference later, took it all very steady
and used the cable ties instead of hog rings. As for the fingers, yes very sore for a week but it was worth it in the end.
I did get a dvd of photos from the supplier which I went through prior to doing the job, if anyone is going to fit covers
and wants the disc I will post it to them.
This weekends project, again cable ties used instead of hog rings. About 6 hours all told, about 4 hours for seat 1 and another 2 for the next. Same supplier as Geoffs - very well made and promptly delivered.
