A driver who has had 5 previous disqualifications.
Who is driving uninsured while disqualified.
Who is driving while on cocaine.
Who is driving while on alcohol.
Who crashes and needs to be hospitalised as a result…
Gets a two year ban, suspended sentence and community service, and minimal fine/costs…
How is this meant to act as a deterrent for other would be reckless law breaking behind the wheel? I have nothing personal against Katie Price, but surely a massive fine and jail sentence was appropriate?
It’s like the repeat offenders for driving whilst using a mobile phone, etc. They get off disqualification by pleading extreme hardship if they are banned and then go on to kill somebody whilst on their mobile phones again. How can being disqualified cause extreme hardship? More like it is a bit of an inconvenience. Use a bus, train, bike or even walk and if your job involves driving well tough, get a different job, you should have learnt the 1st time, no excuse. No sympathy for them at all. The law needs to change.
[Edit] - Katie Price is totally irresponsible and should have been banned for life before it even got to five disqualifications. It should be a life ban after three disqualifications. Three hits and you are out. No excuses.
This sort of thing happens all too often , not long ago a young lad was killed by a hit and run driver, and the young uninsured driver was caught and given similar treatment, he should have been banged up for 20 years
Earlier this year I have been called in as a juror. I served in three criminal cases for two weeks and I have been the head juror for two of them. Its one thing to find someone guilty beyond doubt and we were told that all judges have to have unanimous guilty verdict to find someone guilty as charged… If there is any doubt then the person is not guilty.
Now if found guilty (and believe me many times criminals do get away with it) the judge will apply a sentence according to the law - that may happen on the same or at a later day.
Having seen how the UK criminal system works its very lenient on criminals. It does need a complete overhaul.
Don’t you just know what would happen to one of us under similar circumstances.
Agreed, it is never going to happen but that goes with a lot of lowlife behaviour.
The problem with lowlife behaviour is that it always seems to affect decent people
in one way or another. When I say decent I mean people who get through life without leaving a trail of negative impact.
She should have paid a much higher ‘price’.
The woman is a train crash and has been for years. Watch the great British public vote her in as mom of the year or summit equally, mind bogglingly inappropriate.
Katie price has got off with the help of a good lawyer no doubt . Your normal joe blogs would get caught for the first time and have the book thrown at them .They would more than likely be banned , lose their job and have a criminal record .She is an absolute disgrace but will probably go on another tropical holiday to get over it.
Back in April 19 I was hit by a non licenced, non insured young man who had driven through a red light with the police behind him. Completely wrecked the front end on my daily drive which is a Nissan Navara, airbags and I mean all the airbags went off! This thing weighs over 2 tonne and wrote it off.
My wife and I had back trouble for nearly a year, yet he ran like a Olympian! Didn’t give a **** about us. Thankfully the police caught him and arrested him while we were carted to A&E via ambulance.
He received a driving ban (didn’t have a licence to start with) and fine. Still grates on me to this day.
I think the judges ought to be held culpable if the said offender then goes on to commit another crime - that might make them think twice about their apparent leniency. What would they think if Ms Price ran over and killed one of their children whilst on a suspended sentence?
No doubt the lawyers convinced the courts that a “celebrity” wouldn’t fare well in prison. The woman is a fright and I have disliked her from the start. Jordan was once known for getting her bits out for the lad mags and her continuous attempts to stay in the limelight are a joke. She should just fade away disgracefully.
