Trunk release under front console opens the trunk, and turning the physical lock with my key opens the trunk as well.
I have tried to locate trunk override switch between tail lights but I cannot see any switches/button
Trunk lights are working fine.
Numberplate lights are abit dim but working as well.
But there are slight dampness in my trunk, dunno where this came from.
Remote central locking is working fine, locks and unlocks without a problem.
Any advise you experts can give to this mx5 noob please?
Key clean and quite new (had to change it 4month ago) also when I press buttons on the fob, theres a indication bulb that flashes in the key itself. Think keyfob transmitter is ok
There’s another thread going about replacing/renewing the key body, the touch keys. I mentioned when I replaced mine the old key and the new one needed fettling on the touch pads. My key boot button needed a good long press to get it to open, bulking out the pads (internally) did the trick. And also you need a long press on it for it to work.
From your good description of the fault everything else is working though. If it’s not the transmitter it pretty much just leaves an internal fault with the keyless entry control module.
You do know that there is a short delay between pressing the boot release button and the boot lid releasing don’t you? You have to hold it for a second or so.
To be fair, all Mazda technical literature describes it as a trunk. A boot is a rubber component that keeps grease in and dirt out of suspension components.
I had a the same issue. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the key, it had just forgotten which car it belonged to and was fine when reprogrammed.
