- My model of MX-5 is: 1.8vvt mk 2.5
- I’m based near: London
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Wiring loom
Hi everyone,
Putting an MX-5 engine onto my kitcar, and I want to use the original wiring loom.
I bought the engine with ECU, immobiliser module, key and engine loom, I stipped those out myself from the donor car (or what was left of it
)
I then bought online a bunch of wiring looms from reputable MX-5 used parts sellers, and I think I now have all the wiring that I need, I’ve also have a wiring diagram for 2004 MX-5 that I can look at,
So,
Engine loom, connect to all the top engine sensors, to the ecu, and it has a blue square plug to connect to the main loom. This is the right wiring, it came from the car, also ecu is the correct one.
Engine bay fuse block loom, goes from the battery to the main fuse and relays block, and connect to starter motor, alternator and a few other bits yet to figure out, this seems to be the same for all the MX-5 mk 2 and 2.5 so I say is correct.
I then have a big chunky wring loom that receive the engine one, connects to the engine fuse box, and has integrated a small fuse box for all the services, in addition to that it has also the connectors for Immobiliser, ignition key switch, immobiliser reader coil, but it has no OBD port, so I fear this might be for MX-5 mk 2 older versions, it has no part number label, it might have come off.
If you have extensive knowledge of wiring and you have time to help me out I’d much appreciate,
If you don’t have knowledge and would still like to help, any pictures of wiring, connectors, module etc, just post them and tell me what it is, or where it is, year of your car and engine.
I hope I’d be able to get this worked out one day, and finally start this lump.
Ciao
