Known and trusted MOT place in or near Reading?

Subject says it all really, any information would be very much appreciated.

I did look up local council MOT places, but there were none in my area.

Cheers, Matt.

MOTest is fine. Open Sunday too,

Thanks! Do you have personal experience with them?

Yes, have used them twice with the MX-5. They replaced a steering boot for about £70, and re-tested for free when it failed last time.

Hi Matt,

Try Lee at Hennell Vehicle Services http://www.hennellvehicleservices.co.uk/ in-between Reading and Henley

I am very particular about who works on my car and I can say that Lee is a top bloke and the feedback he has got through the GoodGarageScheme is well justified Thumbs up.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

I went with MOTest in the end, purely because they were closer and I wanted to have access to a bus if need be! I will certainly enquire at Hennel Vehicle Services next year, but I have to say, the chaps at MOTest seemed very good.

The car passed, had one advisory on the o/s front calliper “binding slightly”, but I can’t say that it has caused me any problems. I replaced the pads before the MOT, and didn’t notice anything untoward on the old pads, uneven wear, etc. Will consider stripping the calliper down next time I do the pads, perhaps replace the sliding pins at the same time just to be sure. The other one was “corroded rear sills”, but I knew about that. Is Lee at Hennell services any good with body repairs Mr Merlot? I’ll probably start another thread on this one in fact with some pictures.

Anyway, pleased that last Saturday only cost me less than £50 for the MOT itself, thanks again for the suggestions.
