Lambretta Scooter Model.

Hi everyone … this is going to be a bit of a long-shot I know, but …

It’s my dad’s 60th birthday in a couple of weeks. He used to be a Mod back in the 60’s and ride around on his Lambretta scooter.
I really wanted to get him a model of a 60’s Lambretta scooter, but ideally wanted to get him one that he can build himself as he retired
a couple of weeks ago so would have the time now.

I’ve easily found Vespa ones, but I get the impression that would be like someone buying me a model of an MGF !!

This is the long shot … but I don’t suppose anyone knows of such a kit ? I’ve had a fairly decent search on the net but not found anything
just yet. I’m going to join the ‘Lambretta club GB’ forum a bit later to ask on there too, but thought i’d just check on here first.

I have a 1964 LI 150 in bits (part restored) un regestered  AND a Complete SX150 Special Restored but in need of a little TLC !!! But they are fetching good money at the mo and i also have a Lambretta Model 48 Moped also part restored circa 1957 with V5 and origanal plate ( three numbers and three letters )

Sorry I miss read your post !!! (numbnut) !! I thought you were after a resto project.

Hi, I’m a Lambrettista myself, and I don’t know of any good model kits (BIG gap in the market for someone – are you reading this Mr Airfix), but this might fit the bill…

It’s a ceramic model of a Lambretta in a Innocenti branded “fabergé” egg. Not seen them in the flesh, so can’t comment on the quality, but the photos look excellent… More here: http://lambrettista.posterous.com/lambretta-collectables

About £40 btw, so not too pricey either.

Hey Geoff … wow my dad would love those !! He’s been toying with the idea of re-living his youth and getting another Lambretta.
It’s the Series 2 I believe is the one he’d really like … one with the headlight on the handlebars I do believe ? He’s quite wary though
after he stuffed his one into a Transit van when he was younger, and a later attempt at motorcycling saw him slide into and then
underneath an articulated lorry.

Croc … thanks for that link. I’m off to have a look at it and see whether that might fit the bill. There’s definately a HUGE gap in the
market for this kind of stuff. If I wanted a Vespa one then i’d have my pick, but it seems no-one’s gone down the Lambretta route.

I’ll try and get a pic up at somepoint of my dad in his Mod days with his scooter.

Just got my clarification about this thread, where you after a lambretta in kit form to build yourself?  And is it true that Vespa do sell the Vespa scooter in a kit form?

Looking to get hold of a scaled model, but preferably in kit form … don’t think there is such a thing so will probably try and get a Lambretta model already made.

Here is one place that produce a Vespa kit : http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/italeri-vespa-primavera-4603-p-528.html

oooooh !! good find. I have that saved in my ‘Watch list’. That could well be the answer.
I can make a plinth at work and produce a plaque with ‘Happy 60th’ on here at work to finish it off. Thumbs up
