Larini exhaust - DIY fit?

Hi,

I have a 1999 MK2 MX5 1.6i and the full exhaust needs changing as the flangle is fooked. I can salvage the CAT, which is a plus. I am planning on buying a stainless steel exhaust, probably a Larini back box and mid-section. Is this a DIY fit? I am pretty handy having worked on MX bikes my whole life, but wanted to ask those that knew (probably better…)

My insurance company want £45 more per year for this mod. Does this sound reasonable? My car is a Japanese import so I seem to get stung whatever I do…

Thanks,

James.

Hi

James I fitted a Larini exhaust with a mid pipe a few weeks back, it took me about 2 hours all in, that was with a cat that was a pig to get off.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o />  I had to re-stud the cat once it was off. It was all done in the garage with the car on axle stands.   O and it sounds spot on.      Roger

I asked my local garage to fit one on my MK3. Was glad I did as bolts on old one (18 months old) were VERY tight.
I am insured with AON - they did not require any increase even though there is a small power gain. The sound is terrific!

I guess that answers my question from the other thread lol

Thanks for the help. I will give it a go if I can get the bolts undone

My car is a bit older than yours. I had my IL Motorsport system fitted by a garage.

Glad I did as I stayed and watched and getting the cat off looked like a proper nightmare, The studs took loads of heat and still snapped.

You might be luckier as your car is younger.
