Le Mans Wheels

  1. My model of MX-5 is: lemans
  2. I’m based near: Shropshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Wheel Finish

I have decided to refresh my wheels but unsure whether to refurb back to oem style or refresh the finish I did 13 years ago?
The wheels are OZ Plutons, standard on Lemans Models as well as being an option from Mazda UK at the time.
Oem the wheel had a diamond cut lip and the rest of the wheel painted silver, on mine I hand polished to a mirror finish and hand painted the segments and sides of the spoke in satin black.
So opinions please on what to go for😊

Yours look great, but for me, it’s OEM. I probably wouldn’t have said that 13 years ago, but the original finish is very “of the time” and today they stand out all the more for it, as a classic and iconic wheel !

I’ll be watching closely as mine will need doing once the restoration gets to that point. God luck, keep us posted !

Personal opinion of course, they look great as you did them 13 years ago just refresh that look I say.:+1:

Normally I would vote for the OEM look but yours look better and can always be returned to the OEM by a Purist !

Thanks for the opinions, I have a set of AXGT wheels coming back from refurb next week so will decide once I see the quality.
But I think I will just refresh the finish I have as like you say they can always be put back to Oem by a purist.

The 4 spoke ones ? Another iconic wheel, I must say.

I have no doubt the Le Mans wheels will look awesome. :+1:

I prefer the ones on the foreground car. However its your vehicle so do whatever you want, just dont lose / sell the original wheels so you can sell it later if need be.

Yes iconic wheel just had a pic back, now I’m tempted to have the lemans wheels done the same :hugs:
