For the past 15 years or so i have always dried my bike off after washing or it getting wet with a leaf blower before putting it away. This, along with meticulous maintenance meant i sold it for more than i paid for it new way back in 2003.
Does anybody do the same to their MX-5 or is the traditional drying cloth best?
I personally dry with a MF cloth but I’ve seen Professional detailers use a hand help blower to remove excess water from door shuts and mirrors etc. Providing the leaf blower doesn’t circulate debris from the ground then it’s probably not a bad approach. Would still finish with a MF cloth though.
I have a WORX leaf blower/vac (variable wind speed up to about 300mph IIRC) I use it to dry my car It does a great job and chases water out of hard to reach areas. It’s a mains one so is a little restrictive but does have a long cord to get all round the car. As my car is wrapped, I’m carefull around the edges of panels but not had any issues using it. Oh, it also tidies the leaves up too, which is a bonus
Found another use for the blower/vac in the early hours this morning! Large family and friends gathering at ours and Mrs B had bought several of those giant party popper things for the kids to let off at the appropriate moment the downstairs areas were, or what seemed like, knee deep in gold foil strips! Out to the storage box in the garden, plugged in the garden vac and made short work of it all. Quite noisy operating in the house though
Hello , the worx leaf blower is excellent, After Mequirars spray wax & towel dry, the excess water gets blown out of the wing mirrors, around the lights & especially were the hard top meets the body ( bout 2 gallons in there ) & after using spray wax ( between proper waxing ) excess water is very easy to mop up, Its my personal way of doing things of course & we all have our own way of doing the same job, But the best use is many spoked/complicated alloys… what a godsend for those it is
Very true about the wheels my BBS replica wheels were crying out for a blast from a leaf blower I suppose it’s one less “direct contact” stage with the bodywork, in the process of cleaning/polishing the car. Blowing all the water off this way, leaves the car and window glass without any water spotting
Just found yet another use for my car blaster. It makes an excellent de icer and it’s powerful enough to use it from the lounge window so don’t even have to go outside ??
