Leaking Rear Window

Hi All.
I’ve got a 1995 Eunos Roadster which had a mohair hood fitted about 10 years ago with a Mk2 glass rear screen at Jack Smiths. The glass window was 2nd hand, so much older than the hood itself.
I’ve noticed that the rear screen is leaking water. The exterior rubber seal seems to be starting to lift away from the glass at the bottom right of the window.
Does anyone know of a product that would be suitable to re-seal it? Or someone that could re-seal it?
I’m based in Hertfordshire.
Many thanks…

A Standard Mk2 window is in a metal frame, but it could be anything he used!

Try this product. I’ve had success with a very similar product

When I received the window from Autolink it still had bits of the original hood attached to it. It’s definitely a Mazda rear window. I sent it off to Jack Smiths so they could bond it into the hood ahead of me having it fitted.
I just had another look and it’s definitely not rubber, as you’ve said looks like metal with a plastic covering.
Thanks for the link to the product I’ll take a look and give it a try…
Many Thanks…

That is a shame but I suppose it has lasted 10 years? I have seen quite a few of these where a complete seam of rubberized material has lifted.
Why not contact Jack Smiths about this? Not suggesting they are in any way responsible for a repair after 10 years but would suggest they should be able to come up with a suitable product for you to successfully repair especially given they confidently fitted a used rear window in the first instance.
Please do this and come back on the thread as not found evidence of any product that effectively works on this kind of problem.
I would say that your leak will likely be easier to repair than some as not in an area of particular stress from the look of it.

When you look at it, it’s the Mazda part that has failed where the rubber/metal frame has started to lift from the glass. To be sure, I just looked back at pictures of my Mk2.5 and the window looks exactly the same.

The hood is 10 years old, but the glass was 2nd hand, so in theory could be over 20 years old, and I can’t complain about that.

I’ve ordered the product Richard recommended in the post above to give that a try. I think it’s a good idea to give Jack Smiths a call as they may be aware of some good products that are worth a try. Equally I thought a glass specialist may be able to advise.

I’ll report back how it goes…

The eBay product that Richard sent a link to arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the consistency is too much like water. It seems to have run straight through just like rain water does. I left it overnight in the hope that some of it would bond between the window and frame but it does not appear to have done so.
I think I’ll probably contact the seller of the item because it seems too watery and very little adhesive properties to the solution. Certainly appreciate the suggestion of the product tho.

It is thin as it seeps in . Try repeated application of a small amount if the leak is that bad.

It was hope that the following morning some of it would’ve bonded, and I could, with repeated applications built up the seal. I think a combination of the gap being too large, and possibly the angle of the window aren’t helping here.
