leaking window seals Mk 2.5

my drivers side window seal leaks onto the seat mildly when standing in the rain.  On moving off, a little shower of water leaks into the car (lasts about 3 sesonds)

I assume the seal is split and is filling with water which then exits (onto me) when I move off

no leaks when driving (except the moving off shower)

anyone any experience of this?

is it a case of fitting new seals or is there a bigger problem?

I have the same problem with a Mk1 (manual windows) only the right hand side of the drivers seat gets more than a little damp, does anyone know where I can get this sorted out as I am fed up with getting a wet behind when I forget to put a towel on the seat

When did you last treat the hood with a waterproofing agent?

Many times I hear my seals need renewing, after a new hood…they don’t

The stitching becomes porous and draw water in, then it wicks up the lining

Check the hood at the edge above the window, if it’s started to split it lets water in. New hood solved this for me.

I agree, its because the seals have not been adjusted up right by the fitters and tested for leaks before owners who are in a daze looking at their nice new hood and take off.

I just solved this problem in my Mk1 - my problem was exactly the same, water coming in from either the front corner or the centre of the window.  I ordered a new seal set, because the old seals were basically sponges - they absorbed a load of rain water, then became saturated and dripped inside of the car.  Haven’t had any problems since I stuck the new set on - even tried it with the lance at the jetwash yesterday!
