Hi guys, first post so go easy. I’m to be the proud new owner of a red Eunos MX5 Mk1 and one of the first things I wanted to do was to purchase those Jeep halo headlamps but after reading the MOT guidance it looks it’s not legal to convert the standard halogen lights to the LED halo’s?
Yet I still see a lot of MX5’s with them, are people just leaving them on until the MOT is due then replacing with the old ones for the MOT then swapping back again?
Soak all the screws on your existing headlight the day before - retaining ring and levelling screws. The retaining ring screws were M4 but stripped so I replaced with M5 stainless.
Hi @Jeff_jthspace - I just bought the same ones and have a couple of questions - first how did you get them to fit, and second how did you get the halo to light up? Thanks in advance!
If you buy the aftermarket/eBay ones they usually come with a connector that works with the standard side-marker & indicator.
I took it a step further and changed the original side-marker to a DRL (connecting into the blue plug under the bonnet).
I have since gone a step further and fitted TSI’s with dual use bulbs in the side-marker position.
I do have a couple of leads that may work for you, but they are only three pin and to get the indicator/sidelight function another pair of input cables would be required.
Hi all. Considering the halo change for our ‘93 Eunos. The interweb seems awash with many 7” halos and I can’t tell much difference between them, other than the price! I don’t mind spending the extra to get quality units (it’s the time fitting them that is the real cost to me) but not so keen to pay £120 for something that is basically identical to the £40 units on eBay.
These are the ones I bought, no issues with them at all.
I disconnected the ring to be side and indicator, changed to side light only. I found the indicator ring did not “flash” at the same speed / sequence as the cars indicators and looked odd.
