Location of flasher relay (Mk2)?

Hi there,

As above really - can anyone point me in the right direction of where I might find the flasher relay on our Mk2 please? Got a new one coming from Mazda and need to replace it which will hopefully cure the intermittent indicator fault …

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Dan

If its intermittent is there more of a chance its something like a dodgey earth ?

Could well be but as the car is now 13 years old I thought it would be a good idea to start replacing bits as and when it becomes necessary. If the new relay doesn’t solve the problem then we’ll have to investigate the wiring and earthing.

Hi all,

Just a quick update to let you know the problem has been successfully resolved

Part required: S2C466830B - Front unit, flasher (also referred to as “flasher relay” or “flasher control module”)

Cost: £36.84 incl. VAT (note: this is a “special order” item and is non returnable)

Location: driver side footwell, above the bonnet release cable, you’ll feel the relay clicking in time with the indicators, you’ll spend a lot of time upside-down!

I did the repair myself and it took approximately 45 minutes - most of that was spent trying to find the offending relay and removing it. In the end I just removed the connector, plugged it into the new unit and used double-sided sticky pad to secure the new unit to the old one.

Job done!

on the subject of flasher units - I've just got a mk2.5 Arctic and the flasher unit is very hard to hear when driving. And that's with the roof up - with it down it's impossible. Is this typical of the car, or is mine a bit duff? (and no I'm not going deaf yet, my hearing is actually very good)
