LONG LIFE STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUSTS

I am thinking of buying the above back box and I wondered if anyone has one fitted and what their views are re quality/type of exhaust sound/value I have been quoted £249 inc fitting by Long Life,Stockport, any views would be welcomed.Cheers MikeBig Smile

Hi Mike, check out www.mossmx5.co.uk Cobalt system. Great quality and sounds nice and has 5 year warranty. I fitted it myself in less than an hour lying on my back, car  up on wheel ramps. Great value for money.

I have a Long Life twin exhaust fitted in my Mk1.  It’s sounds very nice and seems to be a quality piece of kit.  You’re more than welcome to pop over one evening if you want to have a listen - I’m in Stockport.  Although it is de-catted so that might have an impact on the tone.

Was told today that Longlife use a grade of stainless steel which is around 50% cheaper to buy than that used by my friendly local exhaust gurus at Zorst who are based in Pyle off Jcn 37 M4 and are currently working on providing a twin-exit Mk1 system in conjunction with myself.

These complete systems will be throaty not tinny and raspy and available very soon, will keep you all postedWink

Ive seen the system you have fitted from the latest Moss brochure I am looking for a sound more loke a burble and I do not want it to sound chavy just a sports car sound, how would you describe your sound.Chhers Mike.

Will look forward to seeing the results on this. My aging MX5parts one is a bit too noisey for me now.

Hi Mike, I first fitted a de-cat pipe from mx5 parts as my old cat was ratteling with age. That made the standard system sound a littel deeper together with a k&N panel air filter. drove it like that for a year and it was great, not too noisey. Then the back box blew so that was noisey but in the wrong sort of way. I wanted a cat back system that would give me back some of the horses that have escaped over the years so went for the Cobalt system which is made and finished really well, The guys at Moss told me that it quitens/mellows after a few thousand miles and that turned out to be true. At first i thought it was too loud but it sounded great, then it mellowed out and now sounds just like a sportscar sould "forgive the ad speak". When your crusing on a small amount of throttle its sedate, but you can hear all your throttle inputs on the twisty bits so thats great fun. I dont think youd get a burble unless you put in a V8 though. Anyway im very happy with the whole, fitted it over two years ago, done about 10,000 miles with no problems at all. Good luck with your search, hope you get what your after.Thumbs up

Taff, did you get anywhere with the dual exit stainless MK1 exhaust?

Still ongoing, they want to do a Jackson Racing type high-quality item but with the twin exitThumbs up
