Looking for recommendations for headlight polish

Noticed my headlights on my MK3 are getting a little cloudy. So started looking at various kits to do the job but would love to see what others have done.

I used Quixx on the plastic lens of my motorbike. I bought via Amazon (used to be called Xeropol I think).

Really good stuff. A bit daunting if you have to use the 1500 grade sandpaper which is so counterintuitive but the results were really good.

Recommended.

I also used Quixx on my 15 year old Z4, can’t find the before pic but it was very cloudy, this was after using

Your headlights don’t look too bad. I used toothpaste and a cloth on mine and they came very nicely.

Tooth paste😳 I’ll give that a try first. You can’t really see it in the picture but it’s the top of the lens which is worst.

White toothpaste is best as it is slightly abrasive, so if it isn’t too bad it will remove the top layer of damage.

Meguiar`s PlastX worked well for me, but mine were only lightly hazy and didn’t need sanding.
Whatever you use, treat the headlights to a coating of UV protectant afterwards.

Most polishes will bring them up, Meguiars even do a kit with a drill attachment. As suggested, toothpaste does actually work. But afterward polishing you MUST treat them with a protective coating like pmba said and renew that coating periodically otherwise they will go cloudy again.

I use wax polish every couple of months or so to buff them up and provide an anti-oxidant layer.

I used Autoglym headlight restoration kit on my Yaris. They came up really well.

Autoglym SRP or have used Autoglym paint restorer. The key is plenty of elbow grease and it’ll come up like new, eventually.:+1:

Or a mini buffing head on a cordless drill :rofl::rofl::man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging::man_shrugging::+1:t3::+1:t3::+1:t3::+1:t3::white_check_mark::white_check_mark::white_check_mark::white_check_mark:

I read the other day that a 50/50 mix of Carnuba wax and metal polish works well.

I used 3" sponge on my cordless and meguiars scratch x.2.0. Took me 20 mins to do my dads rave 4.

K2 Headlamp Polish works great for light misting like yours. Hand polish with a cloth. Used it many times on different cars.
Tip - put masking tape on the surrounding paint just in case you stray off the glass.
