- My model of MX-5 is: 1995 1.8 Eunos
- I’m based near: Dorset
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: engine rebuild/forged
I am wanting to go down the path of forced induction, most likely turbo, at some point. My engine could definitely do with getting rebuilt and possibly getting it forged depending on how far I want to go.
Was wondering if anyone has used or knows of a garage that can do this for me preferably near Dorset but can travel. Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks
Hi, I have forged piston/rods on my turbo na 1.6. Here is a useful guide on what is needed for different power goals. How to keep your Turbo Mazda MX-5 Alive | BOFI Racing
I use Bofi racing for any performance parts. Here is their block building order page so you can get an idea on budgeting. Bear in mind the labour costs aswell. Circa £1500 - £2000. MX-5 Engine Block Bottom End Builder | Buy Performance Parts

Hi I would not use a Garage for that kind of work you need to find an Engine Rebuilder there are a lot of small engineering firms that specialise in this sort of work mostly catering for the classic car and motorsport enthusiast.
Forging and engine is quite simple as there should be no machining required unless you get the block re bored. Its a case of swapping pistons and con rods fitting all new bearings seals etc a new oil and water pump is usually required.
Try and find out via local motor clubs.
I did get an engine builder to do it. Precision Engine Services in Inverness. A member of the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers. https://www.precisionengineservices.co.uk/
