Loosing the plot with Bose amp!

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __2006 NC1 Bose
  2. I’m based near: __Cornwall
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ New stereo connections

I’ve purchased an after market head unit and cannot get the speakers to work. I have power etc and the (apparent) correct cable. What should go where?
Below is the cable ordered and the wire plan of the radio.
Any help is appreciated.

It looks like you have the wrong harness, you need the one for Bose which includes steering wheel control module.

Yep, I didn’t want that cable because I purchased this one cheap a few years back just to get it sorted for sound.
After much fiddling and putting a multimeter across the blue trigger wire, I had a poor connection and now we have music!!
Thanks anyway :+1:t2:

On my particular installation I connected the blue/white from the head unit to the blue in the harness as some have done. Also I needed an additional lead and bingo I had sound whereas before the power was there but no sound.

I was foolish to use a block connector :upside_down_face: Yes, blue to blue. I think with the radios central knob, I’m not too worried re the steering controls. I can always change it later if I upgraded to a better unit but this is doing ok for now :+1:t2:

I know from experience when I was wiring up a Kenwood system in my first car how annoying this kind of thing can be. Glad you got it working and hope it adds to your enjoyment of the car.

Thanks
Tbh, I much prefer the exhaust notes but I best keep up with the law regarding phones

When I fitted my SONY headunit even though I had the correct harness the cable to turn on the BOSE amp wasn’t correct and needed some homework to sort. I forget the correct wire that needs 12v sending down it . I THINK it was pink wire but don’t go messing unitil you’ve confirmed.

I had the same as you . Powered up headunit but no sound,

Oh and another thing. Make sure you set the EQ as you want it with the hood up and also down as the BOSE amp remembers the settings made with the OEM headunit, i.e make the changes with the OEM headunit in place.
