Hi guys,
When I bought my NB it only came with the one fob for the immobiliser. Unfortunately I lost my entire keychain last night so now have an MX5 shaped brick sat on the drive.
I’m not 100% sure whether the immobiliser is factory fitted or not. All I’ve been able to find out is that it’s a Meta system, and the fob is/was a RK36S (see pics).
If anybody has any clue about where to go from here it be hugely appreciated. Up s**t creek without a paddle.
Hi
Is your car an imported Eunos? - that is an aftermarket immobiliser.
I am sure you have found this…
RK36S Touch Key
Have sold a few of these retrieved from amongst MX5 ignition keys. It seems that additional touch keys can be programmed but only if there is a working key.
Given the situation my advice is to remove the immobiliser. If you are reasonably confident with a soldering iron it’s not a difficult job but will require some soldering knowledge and probably a couple of pieces of appropriate sized wire. I’ve done several of these immobiliser removals now for various reasons and most work required is around main ignition contacts with secondary work under the side trim by the drivers knee.
If you are not confident removal by a professional would probably take less than an hour of their time.
