Please can an MX-5 ND aficionado clear something up for me.
I have an RF launch edition 2017. The brochure for which states the LSD is included. A google search suggests the LSD was not fitted as standard to NDs until sometime later… what models / years have it and which don’t? When did it become standard?
Google search reult is incorrect.
ALL 2L NDs, since day 1, have had the LSD, whatever the spec.
ALL 1.5L NDs, since day 1, don’t have the LSD, whatever the spec.
Well quite. Hence the question to get clarification.i was mainly trying to understand how unique/ rare or not it was on earlier 2.0l cars in particular
One this they did change was the engine strut brace. When released, that was on the 2L (only) sel Nav and the sport Nav trims. But they dropped the strut brace from the 2l Sel-Nav spec, sometime before 2018. Mine hasn’t got it and it’s a 2018 plate, but got a V3 gearbox, and had Sept '17 tyre dates, so I’m ‘guessing’ was made later '17.
All 2L have the LSD.
Originally, all 2Ls had the strut brace too. (original 2L specs where the Sel-Nav and the Sport Nav [they didn’t do an ‘Se’ spec in the 2L originally, just the 1.5l]).
The dropped the strut brace from the 2L Sel-Nav sometime pre 2018. Kept it in the Sport Nav.
These days (as you mentioned in your reply), yes, both 2L specs (exclusive line and Homura) have the strut brace and, as always has been the case with any 2L, the LSD.
Apologies, I noticed a typo in a post above, which may have caused confusion. I’ve now edited it.
It was on the Mazda spec sheet with my car, and one of those bullet point spec sheets I downloaded. If the base 2L Sel-Nav spec (mine) has it, the Sport Nav and onwards specs have it too, obviously. Quite hard work/pointless production line wise, to have things like LSDs only on certain specs of a given engine size too, when they weren’t options.
This isn’t the material I mentioned in the opening paragraph
But this from Mazda’s site back in '15. Scroll near the bottom
