Ma5da Racing Announce the new MX5-mk3 Race Car for 2010 Series and 2011 Championship

 Dear All

Ma5da Racing have now launched the new race car for 2010. The MX5 mk3 is the natural progression of the widely acclaimed and extremely successfully mk1.

The mk3 will be a further option and not a replacement of the mk1, hence two separate Championships in 2011 each having their own grid space and attending the same events.

The mk1 1600 has proven its ability to be placed on the track to provide exciting racing with evenly matched cars and driver ability being the only differentiator.

During 2010 you will see various Mazda MX5 mk3 race cars on track testing in preparation for the full “2011 Ma5da MX5-mk3 Championship”

Thank you.

Congratulations Jonathan,

That looks fantastic,

I know the Mk3 has been a huge hit racing in the States and Japan so I guess it was only a matter of time before we got it over here - perhaps even Mazda might put their hands in their pockets to put a bit of money behind the series…

Is this a replacement for the supercharged 1.6 Mk1 car you were planning?

Ma5da Racing continues to go from strength to strength.

Next year can’t come soon enough.

Sorry for the delayed response had a dose of “man flue”…

The mk3 is an alternative option to the mk1 but is not a replacement.

Unfortunately with the dollar pound rate collapsing earlier in the year the B32 Supercharger became a very expensive option to the mk1 and a decision was taken to focus on the launch of the mk3 in June 2009.

The new mk3 has had a very quick uptake of interest with 10 cars now being proposed for the first outing at Snetterton in 2010. Just to clarify the mk3 has it’s own track space away from the mk1’s and has a series of 8 races over 4 rounds during 2010 in preparation for the 2011 Ma5da Mx5 Championship.

The regulations will be published shortly but will be based on the success of the MAZDA MX5 Cup in the USA and backing from Mazda is currently under negotiation behind closed doors… watch this space for announcements in February/March 2010. This being the case the donner car is the MX5 mk3 2.0ltr Sport, with 160bhp, 6-speed gearbox and full slip diff.

The car is being displayed on the BRSCC stand at the 2010 Autosport Show 14-17th January.
