Just to let those of you who live in mid and north Essex know that Mack Mazda, who ran garages in Braintree and Chelmsford, are no more. I drove past the Braintree garage on Tuesday and noticed that it was completely empty, no cars, signs gone etc.etc. After a bit of investigation I discovered that the company went into administration at the beginning of the week.
Personally I’m gutted as I had a service contract with them for my Mazda 3 which I’m guessing is now worthless!!
Isn’t the service plan a “Mazda” backed one where the garage just acting as their agents? If it is you should be able to get it switched to another dealer of your choice, or at least get you money back! I don’t have one on my “5” but I’ve got one on my “Jazz” and it’s a “Honda” plan. Suggest you read through your plan and if in doubt ring Mazda UK.
Did you manage to get the service plan problem sorted? If you did, great! If not it would be very helpful to other members with plans, or considering buying plans if you could post your experiences. There is a thread running regarding service plans - New car servicing packages - careful now! - where you should post it. We are all reliant on other members telling us of problems and pitfalls, as well as the good news!.
There is not much info, but it seems that they have steped into the void. It looks like they are in the early stages of setting up. They will probabily rise from the remnents of Mack.
Mack Braintree were my neaest dealer but they never seemed that joined up to me - seemed to think that they had the region to themselves and didn’t really have to try…
I bought both my Mazda’s from Brayleys in Harpenden - both times the expereince was good.
I’ve bought 3 cars from Brayleys in Grays over the years, two Hondas, a “Type R” and a “Jazz” and last year my MX5. I’ve always found them very helpful, professional and friendly. The best dealership I’ve ever dealt with over the years!
Hi Countryboy, Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply, I’ve just dug out all my paperwork and have contacted Mazda to see if they can offer any advice. I’m hoping that as the car is on a Mazda Finance PCP, which clearly states that a service plan was part of the sale, I will be able to carry the agreement to another dealer. As soon as I have any news I’ll post an update.
Have just returned from holiday to find the Mazda letter regarding the closure of Mack Mazda.
Unfortunately I had 3 years servicing included int he price when I purchased my MK4 last October. It was with the dealer rather than with Mazda looks like thats lost now.
Did you receive an official letter from Mazda confirming the position regarding your service contract? It sounds very much like the one I have for my Mazda 3. I’ve had nothing official by post from Mazda and they have yet to confirm anything following their acknowledgement of my initial enquiry via email. I’m going to follow up with them soon, but would be interested to understand what they may have said to you first.
It’s been a long time but at last I have an update. As I hadn’t heard anything back from Mazda I contacted them again and after a couple of days they came back to me very apologetically. After a brief discussion I supplied them with a copy of my bill of sale for the vehicle (including a reference to the service contract) and they have agreed to send me a service voucher to cover the one outstanding annual service.
The guy I spoke to was extremely helpful and more than willing to resolve the issue with the minimum fuss.
So, one happy customer with faith in Mazda fully intact.
