My ND is about 6 mths old and the soft top still beads the water nicely. As we get into winter, what’s the best suggestion please on a product to maintain this? NOTE - I don’t need to ‘clean’ the top as I do this regularly. I just want to ensure the water keeps beading and I don’t end up having to apply something that brings it back to life at a later date.
I used Fabsil Gold on my roof when it was about 4 months old. Applied two coats.
Really pleased with the result and there was no discolouration of the roof fabric.
However, because the car was brand new, I would always open the roof from outside the car. Gently pushing down at the rear of the hard section of the roof. This was to stop the leading edge of the roof catching the hoops.
The consequence of this is that the Fabsil has “worn away” where I push down and the roof no longer “beads” in that area .
I used a paint brush too. It was very easy and satisfying to apply. Work in sections.
In my photo above the top of the roof and sides had just been done and were dry while I was still applying to the rear section. I was finishing as that picture was taken. You can see that the area around the rear window is slightly darker than the top roof section as it was drying.
Paint brush was so easy, I wouldn’t go near the spray application.
