- My model of MX-5 is: NC - 2011
- I’m based near: The netherlands
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Rear Spoiler
Hi All,
I am looking into a rear spoiler for my Softtop NC.
I have found the one from Maxton-Design pretty good looking, however on the photos on their website the spoiler is mounted on a NC with PRHT.
I have send them an email asking if it would also fit a softtop model, but they did not know.( they have never tried it )
Looking at the website they say it is made of flexible ABS plastic.
Has anyone fitted this spoiler on their NC softtop ?
I know the trunk lid between a NC softtop and PRHT differ, but I thought it only differs in the ‘edge sharpnes’ is the trunk also wider in size ?
Below the website

Thanks for any input.
I have a gt style rear wing off Ebay, think it was 100 quid

I added a Maxton boot lip spoiler to my ND and can confirm that it’s excellent, both in terms of fitment (perfectly shaped to match the boot lid) and finish (with a high gloss black top surface). The actual design (imho) is miles more attractive than Mazda’s OEM boot lip spoiler, and if I end up keeping the car, I’ll probably add Maxton’s front splitter too.
Meticulous preparation is key to a perfect installation though. As delivered, there is a single continuous strip of double side tape (about 12mm wide) on the seating surface, but I added two further strips of 5mm wide d/s tape right on the leading and trailing edges of that seating surface.
I also used isopropyl alcohol to clean every trace of slippy stuff from the boot lid itself.

Super thnx,
the thing is, for the NC model they only make a spoiler for the PRHT model, which has a slightly wider boot lid tahn my softtop model. also the curve and edge is a bit sharper. To be sure, is the spoiler flexible, or really stiff ?
I am thinking of getting it and try to fit it, if it is flexible enough.

It’s made from a very hard plastic, so hardly any flex in it at all.
I guess this is a good thing if the fitment is spot on, but not so good if the curve isn’t quite right.
