Mazda dealer price match for servicing?

My local Mazda dealer, Western Mazda in Edinburgh states that they will price match any like-for-like service costs.

“Price Promise: Our Mazda-trained technicians have a comprehensive working knowledge of your vehicle, and are ideally placed to provide the highest standards of care. Due to their expertise, our technicians will give an honest and professional appraisal of your car, and match any genuine like-for-like quote to ensure you receive the best value for money.”

I guess I’m just looking for a cheaper labour cost than a main dealer. I would be happy to pay more for the parts used as they would be genuine Mazda. A Mazda oil and air filter can’t be that much more than an aftermarket item.

Any suggestions where I start to look for a quote for a like-for-like service?

Thanks, Mike.

http://www.samgoodwin.com/ Based at Nuneaton England, but a reasonable comparison. They also use Mazda spares, which they buy from a local dealer. Home page shows typical prices. Yes - a long way to go, but it’s out there as an example.

Even further - Chatham, Kent - http://www.freelancemazda.co.uk/service/mazda-mx-5-eunos-roadster. Who also use Mazda spares.

Perhaps someone local can make more suggestions.

Post the question on MX5scotland as very few Central Scotland area members use this forum.

In all honesty ask the dealer what the running temp is for the diff or gearbox? They wont have a clue!!!

a GOOD independent will run rings around them!!!

Thanks Rodders, I’d much prefer to use an independent, but without recommendation I still go back to a main dealer. If anyone could suggest a GOOD independent garage in the Edinburgh area I’d be most appreciative.
