Mazda Menders at Blyton 2015

It's coming round to that time again, Yeeeehhaaaa  The OC's Blyton 2015

This event is by far the best the OC does 100% that we are there to help with watching owners helping each other no mater what area they are from, or Mark/model they drive, boosted or standard, it is just great fun the full weekend.

Now please read and understand.

The Mazda menders are at Blyton to help the OC and her members/owners at the Blyton event as a 5th emergency service only to get you back home or back on track if needed,we are not there to do services  or brake rebuilds etc, although we will help in anyway we can .

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure any servicing, etc etc etc is done well before the event, if you have a dodgy brake disk or the pads are on their last legs , she needs a oil change ,new rad, water pump, then get it done, if anything should fail or not want to play any ?more with the help of Autolinkmx5 bringing a good parts supply again, we should be able to get you all sorted as we have done in the past years at this great event, so just think ahead and lets enjoy it all over again.

I will add a full list at a later date of the full team of menders that will be throwing spanners for the greater good from around the country that will be helping ;0)

Post away with any questions chaps.

If you’re unsure about putting your car on-track at Blyton, Mazda-Menders and his associates should give you added confidence…

My car is as standard as can be… nothing lowered, adjusted, tampered, pimped…

Do all the simple things to have your car prepared for track-use (nothing extreme, just obvious stuff like oil/water/pressures/pads!), with the knowledge that M-m will get you back on-track or able to get home IF anything goes awry!

Knowing M-m/Autolink/MoT plus a LOT of massively knowledgeable and willing individuals are going to be there, to help any way possible, was the reason I took the plunge last year… there’s not ANYWHERE in the UK you would prefer to have a problem with your P&J… all the experts in one place!

Get booking before it’s too late…

Big massive thank you from the Mazda menders crew/team for looking after us over the weekend keeping us watered and fed.

Shout goes out to Matt Russell and the gang for taking us all under their wing and making sure we got food on Saturday evening and shared their well needed beers with us all xxxx

Iain fleming for also making sure we had food before himself after finishing at 9pm

Mazda menders is a team from around the country that spanner throw and is NOT one man in a shed, some are Co’s some are enthusiasts with a deep passion and and the bug, so here are the guys that gave up their weekend to help get the owners that needed it back home, and there was a good few and we hit some real odd balls, but we got everyone moving again including the MS special…

Carl Smith…CBS autos

Roy Fraser…Gillingham Auto Repairs

Neil Stokes…Stocks of Kelsey

Wayne/Daryl/Chris Douglas/Dermot Murry…Mazdamenders

Parts were supplied by Autolink mx5/CBS Autos/Mazda mender

Great weekend, great Co,great banter, great fun, great atmosphere, best event the club holds by far in my opinion, it will be a crying shame to loss it, it could of been advertised a hell of a lot better and grabbed by the b*lls and that should of been done from day one of Peter taking the position, Jons shoes would of been not hard to fill with a bit more enthiasam, he planted a seed that just needed clipping feeding and watering as it grew,it as not been and it did show from the last events to this one, could it have been done better…yes.

It is a shame, but i have a feeling that the clubs Blyton is dead, No Co runs at a loss and carries anything on that will.

Well done Mazda Menders team, looked like you were kept busy spannering.
Due to a family bereavement apologies for having to pull out of the team at the last minute guys, was so looking forward to the weekend.

Hi Wayne - every event that the club puts in is subsidised by the many (6200 members) for the benefit of the few that attend even the biggest.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s the big National Rally that gets a walloping 1750 cars that turn up or an event like Blyton with significantly less. Crucially here, attendees pay a significant sum to join in the fun at Blyton so everyone that enjoys it has a vested interest in its ongoing success.

The clubs National Events get an annual budget spend as an entirety that is then carved up between the different rallies and exhibitions etc dependant on many factors incl location, host costs, facilities etc.

However, there needs to be member demand to justify the cost and resourcing. I’ve been to Blyton every year and had a blast - I don’t want to lose it from the calendar but need to be able to try and prove that it’s worth the continued investment.

Getting feedback is crucial in making it better in the future and some great stuff has already been said to help.

It ain’t dead yet! ??

I was asked to be honest, and that is what i have been, but just remember one thing Ian, we have been there also every year while this has been running and that does not include the years that we were fighting with the OC to get something running inbetween the rallies, we can see how bad this as not been advertised in the correct way from the begining for this years blyton event , there was NOT enough push for this and if you open your eyes and read you will see that myself and many others that were pushing this simply because it was not being done.

Your more than welcome to ring me for an honest view on this than rose tinted glasses, don’t ask for honest if you don’t like what you are going to hear as that makes no sense.

You have been there enjoying yourself  on track , we have been there making sure your members get their roadsters repaired to get back home , so are in good place to voice an opinion.we don’t get to enjoy the track at that event.

we provide a service and have done for the last 4 years so can see the difference at the event and the for the build up

So to paraphrase the two posts above, lets make it better for next year then.

Guy’s,
I can see real value in Waynes assessment regarding the advertising. It is fine advertising in STHT and on the forum to current members (I know the forum is open to all but i would hazard a guess most of those viewing and posting in it are OC members) but i know from my recent efforts to encourage newcomers to the fold that this event needs to go viral on as much of the other MX-5 social media groups that are out there. this is where I find new potential members everyday. I have managed to encourage new members to join on the back of preaching the Blyton event and they had no idea it was even a going concern right on our Area door step. There are many younger MX-5 enthusiasts coming through now, buying up MK1’s & 2’s that are not interested in some of the other things the OC offers but would love to see how their cars perform on the track. They are setting them up in track form for the road and not knowing the OC provide such a great event to take advantage of their hours of spannering. We should not be contemplating whether it should be held again once per year, this event as Wayne said and also in my opinion is the best event of the year by far and it should be so good and well subscribed that the focus of attention after the event should be on where, when and how soon can we do another in the same calendar year. There are some real valued SWOT analyists on the Blyton de-brief thread and the members know the answers to make this a going concern. It is innevitable that when something has been done several times then there won’t be full subscription from all those members again, after all with country wide demographics in play, many won’t make the same journey several times if their appetite isn’t wetted sufficiently, there has to be evolution to keep people coming back and to attract potential track newbies and ultimately members that will drive the club forward…this all comes down to great experiences at the event and an advertising campaign that grabs people by the balls.

On a final note, Wayne, Thanks for the shout out above and it is appreciated. The offer of a few burgers and beers for the M-m’s crew was nothing after the efforts you guys go to for all. If you couldn’t get a good welcome from the Lincolnshire crew when the event was on our patch it would of been a bit of a rough do!

Here’s to next year.
