Mazda Mender kindly gave me a magic bottle after
checking my mk1 over for a non-existent oil leak after I was turned away from
the Blyton pit lane last Sunday morning. My car was filthy after the Blyton
weekend. Wheels caked in brake dust and car covered in general crap from being
sat outside in the rain and driven round the track on Saturday and Sunday. However, it had previously been clayed, polished and sealed with Autoglym products, so I expected it to clean up ok.
So, as a quick clean-up I jet washed, coated it in Demon Shine
snow foam and washed it with a microfiber mitt and Mazda Mender’s magic bottle added
to a bucket of hot water, then topped off with Autoglym Aquawax (the lazy approach).
Feedback on the magic bottle,
didn’t seemed to make many suds, even when I stuck the pressure washer lance in
the bucket and whizzed it up. However, the car cleaned up well with not a lot
of effort and the mitt seemed to glide nicely over the paintwork. So, all in
all not bad, particularly as it was free! Whether I’d buy it or not would
depend on price and availability, given I normally get caught up with Halfraud’s
perpetual 3 for 2 offer on Autoglym stuff.
Well the instructions state to add your normal shampoo to, there might be a reason for that IE some suds, that is why it is stated, other wise i would not have put it on there, because there is not a lot of soap/shampoo what ever you want to call it added, it can be used without adding your shampoo of choice ,but it will not sud up.
Then use the stuff as is, but you will not get a lot of suds, so it is good and safe next to the fish farm you are next to.
It is really good stuff and i personally have been useing it for many years, have you seen my roadsters, they do not get polish and waxed every other week, because i do not need to.
Either way, without it suds on the top is a terrible way to measure the quality of a shampoo, quality shampoos need not be expensive nor do the the best performers produce a lot of sud’s what they produce is water with a lot of lubrication which is the way to a quality shampoo thus reducing damage additionally having decent cleaning power is not to be based on suds alone.
Case in point is that many of the best shampoos do not leave a lot of suds on the vehicle, Bilt Hamber autowash produces very little in the way of suds but has good lubrication, excellent cleaning ability, 5ml per wash 60 washs from a tiny bottle at under £10…
As for this I personally do not believe in wash and wax products but that is my point of view, but I concede that for some they find it better. I rarely seal/wax my cars thanks to quality products so that is my viewpoint quite why some people believe I do it every week is beyond me.
I never said I was knocking the product highlighted in itself, but above it did say someone complaining about lack of suds for which there was a mistake for not including another shampoo with it.
I wished just to highlight in itself that suds is a very bad way to measure the overall performance of a shampoo.
Furthermore, focusing on the product itself now I find this product to be described as a “wash and wax” product, when essentially really it is not doing any “washing” as otherwise why the requirement to have an ordinary shampoo in with the product?, in my view that means it is only simply providing wax protection nothing more and the description misleading.
Focusing on myself, I have never seen the point for myself personally using them as I use dedicated products and the way I like to keep my '5 and other cars in our family (my car is wearing Zaino Z2 with ZFX and Z6, my other cars in our family wearing varying forms Gtechniq products). Additionally to many that know me I highly question the need of the majority of additional protection given by certain quick detailers, let alone “wash and wax” shampoo otherwise it defeats the object of even applying a dedicated wax/sealant or coating as that is what I wanted to protect the vehicle not a quick detailing product or shampoo with wax added.
This does not mean that I do NOT see the need for some people as there clearly is a market for them, just not myself for the reason above.
There is a little bit of shampoo added for washing, i personally like the suds /bubbles/foam, so add my own choice of shampoo when i use it, that is why i stated it in the instructions, not everyone cares for to much soap, so that is why there is only a little, so not a misleading product, clearly some have a lot more time on there hands on the detailing side of things, not all of us have , some are very busy poeple, my personal roadsters get detailed once a year and then kept on top of with this mix, works for me and i know it works for others out there that have tried it ,that i know like the stuff, it’s just that they have not posted up, each to there own, but this stuff does work for what it is needed for. if you don’t like W&W ,i get that it is your choice,if you enjoy rubbing your cars for hours ,i get that to, i am at another ender with the cars, and never have the time, but to pull something you have not tried, does not work and make sense.
This was a feed back thread , for owners that have tried it over a free sample bottle that as been handed out,it was not a fight over a personal view on Wash & wax products.
You are more than welome to try some before sla**ing something off you have not tried, than sl*g it off.
Wait untill i give out the screenwash/wheel clean/tar and bug wipes/ tyre shine, god you can go mad with yourself and have a field day.
Hang on…you just stated that quote “shampoo added for washing”, which be your own statement then means in fairness that this product does not “wash” only providing protection during a “wash” process.
I am not “slagging off any product” just giving a viewpoint if you do not like someone elses viewpoint don’t get upset, either just accept that viewpoint and have the ability to see if from there point of view - end of the day this is a free forum, if someone is not able to provide a viewpoint many people might as well not bother. As by purpose the definition of what you are doing is something I:
a) Find no additional need for.
b) Does not suit my purposes…
but if you are still willing then I may have sometime to try it on another vehicle not the '5.
I have plenty of products and to be honest there is enough rebranded rubbish to last a lifetime having spent long enough in the detailing product side and underhand dealings that I could not give a hoot anymore, I care little for products apart from the ones I have and occassionally venture outside that but for trial only until I find they meet what I wish to achieve.
Used my free sample of Mazdamenders magic car wash today, and was suitatbly impressed just followed the insructions on the side of the bottle, added half the mixture to a bucket of water with a touch of my usual car shampoo, washed the car rinsed dried, and must admit was more than happy with the finished result, even brought an extra sparkle to the wheels, looked like it had just been valeted with a good wax finish. Would recommend it. And will be using it on my other vehicles when it comes on sale. Well done mazdamenders great product thanks.
