MAZDA MX-5 Kuro Edition

Peaks and Pennines Club member Richard Newton has asked me to put this post on the forum, working for a local Mazda distributor he has access to trade updates before the general motoring public.

MAZDA  MX-5 Kuro Edition

I am delighted to announce details of the next Mazda MX-5 Special Edition - the Mazda MX-5 Kuro launching 1 July 2012. This new Special Edition will feature a host of unique specification over the standard model range

The MX-5 Kuro Special Edition takes design cues from our successful Britcar GT MX-5, focusing on sports styling as well as the MX-5s iconic sports car performance.

The name Kuro – meaning Black in Japanese - is derived from the sporty, dark accents of this latest Special Edition. The MX-5 Kuro features black detailing, bringing together dark wheels, black roof and black wing mirrors, as well as increased levels of sports-derived specification.

Designed with both traditional Soft-top and Roadster Coupe customers in mind, this Special Edition is based on the Mazda MX-5 1.8i SE Soft-top and 2.0i Roadster Coupe Sport Tech derivatives. Key specification highlights include:

·         A diffuser-style rear bumper sports trim with larger sports exhaust extensions to accentuate the true sporty nature of the MX-5

·         Stylish exterior paint colours - Velocity Red Mica, Crystal White Pearlescent and Brilliant Black

·         Dark gunmetal 17” alloy wheels, black roof and black wing mirrors

·         Unique exterior graphics

·         Black detailing around the front fog lights and grille

·         Unique stone and black leather heated seats with stone door inserts

·         Silver interior deco panel with red accents

·         Kuro Special Edition floor mats

·         Sporty alloy pedals & climate control air-conditioning

·         Roadster Coupe models feature Bluetooth® hands free and a Bose® sound system

DevilI expect that this post will also be shoved into the cars for sale as well, just like the Venture post

I hope not,

I am on holiday at the moment so I cannot turn up the earlier emails,

To the best of my recollections I have followed the guide lines forwarded to me by The Webmaster and Martin Curtis.

Incidently Richard tells me that he did nt make any sales directly as a result of his posting re theVenture, he received several enquiries which he re  directed to the Mazda Dealership close to the member.

 Burtonm,

I’m just in the process of buying a new Roadster Coupe Sport Tech and I’ve been looking at the Mazda Website ( http://www.mazda.co.uk/cars/mx-5-soft-top/specs-and-prices/ ). The Sport Tech is on the market for £22995 and the Kuro for £21995. However it is difficult to compare “on screen” (I can’t print of the details at present) as navigating between the options closes up the details. Notwithstanding the details you’ve stated above the only difference that I can see is that the Sport Tech has heated Door Mirrors. This does’t seem much for a £1000 difference? - Or am I missing something?

Hi

I do not know the answer to that one - but I know a man that can.

Watch this space !

Sorry, my contact within Mazda sales has moved across to Ford, so I cannot get you an answer on this one

My Kuro definately has heated wing mirrors, they work in conjunction with the heated rear screen.Smile

 Mmmmm the plot thickens!!!

I’m picking up my new car today (2.0 Roadster Sport Tech Coupe) so (if I remember in the exitement!!) I’ll ask the sales guy and report back.

I really hope you shopped around and didn’t pay the price shown above. I bought my Kuro Roadster from Perry’s in Preston in July, and paid £4000 less than what they wanted at Chris Allen’s in my hometown Fleetwood.

Too late!!! I’ve already bought a 2.0 Sport Tech. I’ve got it on the 0% finance deal so with the Mazda “donation” (which equates to £2131) I will end up paying a total of £21742 at the end of 42 months (3 1/2 years). I may have got a better deal by shopping around a bit more but I needed to secure a car now otherwise I may have been forced to get something “more sensible” by she who must be obeyed! Also looking around the websites (didn’t have much time to do any other research!) I couldn’t find anything new for a lower price, that was convenient.

Also!!! as you (Coley62) appear to have a new “Kuro” do you know what the differences are to that of the Sport Tech (it appears that the Kuro has a “rag top” - if your picture has anything to go by)?

The 1.8 has rag top and the 2.0 has plastic top…

Picked up my Kuro 2.0 for 20k exactly using the 0% finance deal (included red paint & paint protection)…

Only differences I can see between Sprt Tech and Kuro - is that kuro only has 3 colours (white, red, black), has stripes, black roof, some black plastic bits, grey leather seats, red trim around the air vents, and a kuro badge

The Kuro (ours is a 2.0 hard-top) is basically a special edition Sport Tech, as you say available in the 3 colours, stripes etc. that was originally listed £1000 cheaper than the Sport Tech. The salesman couldn’t understand why, as it’s the same car.

We hadn’t any intentions of buying a new car, but just went for a nosey. When I saw it, I had to have it especially as the deal was so good. The wife and I did a bit of number crunching and thought “what the hell, let’s do it”. 48 hours later it was on the drive!

We also took up the 0% finance over 3 years for half of the £17995 though the white paint was an extra £500.

Where we got caught out by our impulsiveness, was that we bought a 12 plate on 31st July, and when we turned up for our first club run in it, there was an identical car there on a 62 plate that the lady had bought 5 weeks after us on the same deal. Ah well, sods law! Rolling eyes
