I’m after mazda super coolant for my mk1 mx5 as I went to Cardiff Victoria Mazda last week and they sold my the coolant which had F22 in it for the Mk3 model after reading up on it I took it back and asked for the super coolant I was then told no such thing then I called them back later on that day after seeing a photo of it on the site I was then told over the phone they have ordered me super coolant but it’s coming from Holland ok I said so I went to mazda today to pick it up and its red in colour in a black 5 litre bottle stamped Ford so I said this is not the correct one so then he gave me a different one called colma G48 blue colour so I just want to know if anybody got a contact for the right coolant please
Blue antifreeze contains silicates. Japanese engines require
silicate-free antifreeze, therefore use only green or red HOAT/OAT
silicate free antifreeze.
previous thread had this in it .
Seen this? The container is different now. It’s the same as the FL22 container but with a black lid.
The F22 antifreeze is specific to the Mk3 good decision to give it back.
Mazda Super Coolant is a pre mixed Ethylene Glycol antifreeze with no silicates and comes in a 5 litre tub with a green dye and is what is specified by Mazda for all Mk1 and Mk2 and Mk2.5 MX5’s.
This is typical of japanses manufacturers recommendation. In Europe we tended to use an antifreeze with silicates. No big issue here at all unless you want to worry about it just use it.
Comma G48 is a specific ethylene glycol antifreeze with silicates that is approved by a number of manufacturers but not Mazda.
Apart from cars serviced by Mazda from 1990 to now, local garages have been putting ethylene glycol antifreeze with silicates into MX5’s and if changed after two years as which is the duration recommended by Mazda and the anti freeze manufacturers there is no problem at all.
So just use the G48 as provided but do not go to the bother of buying it from Mazda in future.
Buy a known brand from your local store.
Hi Robbie I showed the guy in parts at mazda that picture today again and gave him the code but he has never seen it or can’t get it for me I have red antifreeze in my car for now but I want to get the super coolant from mazda so if anybody knows of a mazda dealer selling it and have a contact number please pm myself thanks
Mazda in WAkefield, west yorkshire, got me 2 bottles last year without any problems. Just gave them the picture and they ordered in. 13 quid for 5 liters
Ill contact them in Wakefield tommorow and see if they post thanks
JCT 600
Thanks Wazza
Hi WAzza I called mazda and got Jct600 contact I called them up and they said they stock it the price is £54.95 for 4 litres does that sound??? right but only problem is they don’t post so I’ll keep looking around
I just called my local Mazda Dealer (Hughes of Beaconsfield, Bucks) and they hold it in stock . £14.95 for 5 litres.
Will be picking up 10 litres tomorrow if it’s that hard to come by!
Dealers have to buy it in packs of 4x5litre containers. They can then split each 4 pack and divide the cost by 4.
Let me know if it’s the correct one they give you for that price mate as the price I had today must have been for 4 not 1 as long as it’s mazda super coolant and not the new one with F22 in it I’m still looking so if it’s the right one pm me the contact number and I try and see if they will post me out one thanks
Will do fella.
BTW you can get it mail order from IL Motorsports.

Latest on coolant is Mazda called me back today said they have now found me super coolant so I just made another trip to dealer and this time it’s the right stuff
Well done. I left work early yesterday, caught the train home and drove all the way over to the dealers to get mine, only to discover the specific supercoolant they told me they had in stock (after I had given them the part number) turned out instead to be FL22. Grrr. They have ordered me the correct coolant in though but unfortunately it will arrive the day after I’ve set off to the Nurburgring. Looks like I am going to have to use something else temporarily and then change it for the correct stuff at the next opportunity.
Why are the main dealers given us the F22 product I also gave them the code and had this problem but after 3 trips they got it right but it cost me £30 fuel
