MazdaDudes Darlington

Just a quick line to give a shout out to Mazda Dudes based in Darlington.

I have just bought a de-immobiliser kit for my 2.5 from Andy at Mazda Dudes. I had not heard of or used them before, but the service and price has been outstanding.

Delivered the kit to Central France in less than a week.

I believe that they break mazdas and retail cars as well.

Thanks guys

Richard

Hi Richard

I thought you had purchased an ecu set with all the locks off Mazda dudes? did they make you up a demobilise kit or perhaps that was the way you decided to go after my advice?

Anyway I have dealt with these guys before and they are not the worst. They did however sell me a Mk2.5 ecu set crucially advertised with two working keys and then sent me a set with just one key; refused a £10 refund so I will not be dealing with them again.

Best wshes as always.

Hi Rob,

I did actually buy the  ECU, immobiliser, ariel, and full lockset with one key. Also the 3 relay type things next to the ECU ???

However, in the short term, since we have virtually no crime in my little part of France, I have only used the parts in this guide.

http://www.mazdamenders.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=128&t=2938

So I called it a de-immobiliser set, though in retrospect, perhaps wrongly.

£65 for the lot, so well happy with the price. Postage to France was not an option on the auction site, but after contacting the MazdaDudes, they ( Andy) was happy for me to arrange a MyHermes service (£15) and just email the labels. He even dropped it off at the shop, saving me another £ on the cost.

Everything was very well packaged and I can only speak as I find with regards to my dealings with these guys.

Sorry your dealings were not as good as mine…we like to think of ourselves as a community and if we can help one another…so much the better.

Cheers

Richard

The main thing Richard, is that your problem has been resolved…and resolved cheaply.

Amazed Myhermes were that quick as take almost as long with inter UK deliveries and at the same cost to you as cost of insured, tracked amd signed Royal Mail:-)

The relay is the alarm relay which you will not require along with the lockset. I would definitely keep the connector plugs though.

My attitude is always to treat people as they deserve to be treated, that simple really, so negative feedback left for the dudes on ebay.

Given years of experience and no particular requirement/expectation, there is no self doubt in this area.

No notable crime in South Devon either…at the moment but demob on the MK2.5 the way forward anyway.

Best

Rob

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the info…again

I was surprised with the speedy delivery also. Its the first time I have used myhermes for an international delivery. The parcel was actually delivered by Colissimo ( French Royal Mail ). i lost the tracking via myhermes when it left the uk, so had no idea who would deliver on the French side.

Job done so Happy Days…managed to fix my laptop today as well…sometimes we have good days…sometimes not lol

Cheers

I sell quite a lot of stuff abroad and with the end of free googlebase product searches, most goes through ebay rather than the website and the global shipping program. It was a nightmare when it first started and I was on the point of dropping it as too many problems versus success.

I would say; and I touch wood whilst doing this, numerous transactions over the last 2 years or so and no memorable problems. The issue is the need to send to a central collection point in the UK before onward despatch abroad. This obviously takes extra time. It sounds like you organised your own collection of that ecu set which shows characteristic initiative.

I have just sold(within last 24 hours) a Eunos 1.8 standalone ecu, to go…and this is a first, to Japan. Sold a similar ecu a few months ago to go to the Philippines and took 45 days to arrive via ebay, global shipping program. A subsequent delivery of a CAS and coilpack has still not been delivered after more than 2 months.

I fixed my old laptop too - moved from standard broadband to vodafone fibre - what a difference, even on this site:-) I won’t pretend it was easy as vodafone tried to scupper the transfer a couple of times but now activated, no way I will return to EE or standard broadband.

We have historically used ParcelFlight, based in Manchester. The parcels are generally collected in the UK and delivered here in France by UPS. A little more expensive than some, but usually a 3-4 day turnaround, collection to delivery. They do a worldwide service if it may help you.

Postage to the UK from here is horrendous. For example the same box from the Uk to France via ParcelFlight is THREE times the price going France to Uk…

Can i just mention that the walk through guide on mazdamenders.net covers the 3 ways to resolve  swapping out the immobiliser/ECU to get up and running again, including recutting keys and also the route of swapping key barrels so it is back immobilized so back OE.

Glad the guide helped as a dealership would have cost around £2.500 for it all new and fitted, you are not far form me in manchester buddy, if you passing call in.

Hi,

Back to the original point, I’ve just bought some parts from MazdaDudes off E-bay.

The parts were ‘as described’, quickly dispatched, well packaged and at a good price.

So at the moment it is a 66% good and 33% bad experience.

As to the other topic on this post, why are people disabling the immobiliser on the Mk2.5?

I only have Mk1’s so have not heard about this, but recently a friend bought a 1993 Eunos and the Insurance company made them fit an immobiliser.

Sorry OP for taking this off topic…

The OP wanted to get her running and fixed and moving quickly and put everything back right at a  later date, as for the MK 1 with out a immobilizer, is it an import?, you do not need to fit one ,the insurance may recommend, some may not insure without one, but most will, imports are not fitted with them as standard at the factory “all versions”, there is not as many yobs over there nicking them.its about opportunist over here with light fingers.

Just like the " black box" you do not need to fit one of those either.

Thanks to MM for the guide, it helped a lot

With regards to NM. the cars immobilizer immobilized the car after a couple of huge thunder storms. The car would turn over, but simply not start. I figured it was the immobilizer due to the red “key” light on the dash not illuminating when the ignition was turned on.

I paid £65 for a complete lockset, ECU, Immobilizer module, ariel and one key, all taken from a running mk2.

Swapping all the bits I needed over took less than an hour.

The car is running great now.

I have in effect, made the car “think” that the key I am using in the ignition is the right key / transponder for the car. What is actually happening is that the ECU is reading the transponder from the key which is cable tied to the ariel hidden beneath the steering cowling, which means that if you wanted you could start the car with a screwdriver instead of a key.

No the insurance will not be happy ( but seeing as I am third party only, does it really matter to me? )

I have used this dodge on one of my other mx5’s which I bought with only 1 key. As keys are very expensive coded to the car for the 2.5, I simply cable tied the one good working key to the ariel as described, and bought 2 keys without transponders for a tenner, which would then work in all the locks and start the car.

No one knows ( unless you tell them ) that this is the case, and would be thieves will think the car needs a coded key to start it…so what’s the problem ?

Hope this explains things

Richard
