We added the sleeve as an additional protection to the springs in the first batch of the ZetaCRD. They are design as a “noise insulation” to further prevent noise.
However, after being put into mass production, it seems like certain model made squeaky noise because of the rubber sleeve. So we decided to remove them from future batches.
That is why the current batch don’t have the sleeve, because sometime they can cause more problem and customer just don’t need that.
I was doing some brake work on the car today and thought I’d take a look at the Meister’s, after a wipe over they look like they were only fitted yesterday. Been on the car 2 years, I don’t just drive in the dry and sunny weather but then again they don’t see salty roads in winter.
Springs replaced, retested, back on the road. On reading my MOT cert I see I am averaging 2,199 mls a year, should not miles travelled be an indicator of life expectancy of springs, not their time since fitting.
